    weaned calf coccidiosis?

I'm not sure about the fecal test suggestion. Coccidiosis is an easy thing to treat, and the stuff you treat it with, amprolium, is the same as the preventative. Buy a package (liquid or powder) and give it to them, if it works, great, if not, you wasted 20 bucks on the package and probably wont...

Can you please tell me what these are? (PICTURES INCLUDED!)

I think they look like ringworms. Spray some anti fungus spray on them. You can get some at any local feed store, or any athletes foot spray will work too

    Help!! Clipped steer too short!

Lots of water, and shade. Shade is the number one thing to get cattle to grow hair, keeping them wet in the shade is even better. Maybe some melatonin, and a fan and a rice root brush definitely wouldn't hurt either. Conditioners will make better hair, but wont make it grow faster. So pretty...

    Bull calf popping pastern

I have no idea the science behind it, I know that I've done a little searching on the internet on it, and enough people believe it to make me think I'm not crazy lol. The most (and pretty much only) form of inorganic selenium bioavailable to cattle would be Sodium Selenite. You are probably...

    IGR

IGR is meant to help your fly control program, not to be your fly control program. You still should use spray/pour-on/rub, just hopefully with an IGR, you'll use less. Permethrin pour on should last 1-2 weeks, with no IGR you'll probably be once a week, with IGR, hopefully you'll be at 2 weeks...

    Minerals. Are they needed?

I live in east/central TX and minerals are vital to our operation. The main problem is that the molybdenum levels of central texas soil are so high that they bind copper into an unusable compound, so we have to feed a mineral with chelated trace minerals to keep our cattle from being copper...

    Bull calf popping pastern

Selenium supplementation is the only way I've found to mediate it. Multimin 90 (rx) is the easiest, if you have a prescription. We use the 12:12 Mineral from the feed mill I work for, it is 45ppm selenium, and have not had a problem with any cattle popping pasterns since. We have donors, recips...

    Coccidiosis and Growth

Coccidiosis is really easy to treat though. Corid (or a generic Amprolium) only takes 5 days to treat it. Also, feeding a feed with rumensin/bovatec will improve efficiency, and help develop a resistance to coccidiosis, because it is a weak antibiotic. We feed all of our cattle a 10% protein...

How do I figure analysis of feed?

I can tell you with 99% certainty that those blender pellets are probably cottonseed meal with a molasses binder. Cottonseed meal is about 42% protein, so mixing it with a little binder to make it stick in a pellet will put you at around 38%.

    Implant Question

59 days to show, hopefully you're a little north of 1100 pounds? I would put a synovex S in. I have done a Synovex S in each ear 60 days before the show, on an American that was as sound as a cat. You could almost sit and watch him grow. Definitely wouldn't recommend listening to someone on the...
