    Post a random thought

Hmmmm.... Random Thought? Pickles are best when cold.

    It worked.........

The answer to that is no. While it's possible to die from some types of the bends, it's a different mechanism to death and can be painful. (speaking from experience - the pain part). I Have no idea why they took 22 minutes to pronounce him dead but he would've died within one or two breaths...

    Building a Longhorn Herd

I've got one. Her name is Rose. Given to me by my sons for a birthday present a few years back. She runs with a brangus herd and is bred by a brangus or angus bull every year. It's been said on here that they know where their horns are at all times. I can attest to that as well. I've...

    Cost of classic car restoration

I assume tongue in cheek compliment and I appreciate it. Exactly how I felt when I found it. I feel pretty content driving around the ranch and farm to market roads even at only 40 but there are times a hwy trip would better get me where I'm going. Doing 40 in a 75 though doesn't feel...

    Cost of classic car restoration

Those ICONs are nice. I don't own enough cows to pay for one!

    Cost of classic car restoration

Lol. I've only got 3 questions - "How much" I paid? "How much" for me to sell? "How much" to repower?

    Brahman meat

Would you mind passing on where you had him butchered? I haven't been able to find a butcher that'll schedule me sooner than 4-5 month's out. Hopefully he's close enough to me to make an inquiry. - Thanks in advance.

    Cost of classic car restoration

There's a lot to like about this. If you like old school, the nostalgic driving experience will put a smile on your face. Floor starter, clutch and brake pedals seem a foot off the floor, spring seat to keep you bouncing, huge steering wheel, if you like air conditioning - it's old school -...

    Cost of classic car restoration

The LS was my 1st thought. Keep it to a manual transmission. Need to change the rear end ratio or complete new rear end if I go that route. New steering column to fit. Replacement radiator. Front suspension, and on, and on ............... One of those things that keeps on growing.

    Cost of classic car restoration

Ole Blue - My '48 GMC. After market wheels and bed but original drive train. 228 straight six with a 4 speed. Doesn't like going faster than 40. It'll get me between the farms but I'm on and off again about whether to repower it so I can run farther afield with it. But there's a part of me...

    Preferred weed spray?

Thanks for that Bird Dog. I'm going to look into it.

    Preferred weed spray?

so dumb question - Is the Texas pesticide applicators license what is needed to buy and use restricted herbicides?

    Cloud reflections in my pond.

    Little John, the giant steer

Those look good! How long did the butcher hang/age the meat before packaging and freezing? Does he have a rule of thumb or is each animal different?

    Things I absolutely hate.....

Cold butter. Specifically, trying to spread cold butter.

    Frustrated!!

Quite a few good ideas here. A good combination of most of them works. Payment upon completion, interest after 10 days, attorney cost provision after 30 days, and property lien immediately upon late payment all stated in a pre-signed agreement before work starts. Any one in business and/or...

    Scope mounting question

Not sure why I would do this. Maybe to change from optical to thermal scope? There are scope rings and mounts that are quick release and claimed to hold zero after removal and re-install. I think Larue makes a set. You'll need to start with a picatinny rail. And as stated, don't go cheap on...

    The questions people ask

I like your answer. Next time I'm asked how many head of cattle I have, I'll answer with "How many do you need?"

    Texas calf loss during blizzard?

I was lucky with a dozen calves under 2 months old. A couple only 2 weeks old. I was worried but no losses here either. Brangus herd. They just hunkered down mostly in the woods. Temps down to zero as well. Second snow of this winter. Snow is not very common here. All my tanks, and...
