    Macon

What's up with the happy holidays banner on the home page? I thought we went through this last year. It's supposed to be Merry Christmas. ;-) I guess I'll have to run a poll to see if I'm old fashioned or if there are still a few of us Merry Christmas people left.

    It's the economy stupid

I wonder how most ranchers/farmers are finding the economy. I hear doom and gloom but I'm not digging ditches or begging. Answer the poll honestly.

    chain ranch sale

I watched the chain ranch sale on dvauctionline sat. It looked like a tough sale to me. Bulls were pretty good it looked like. They didn't have papers but had lots of data. I'd say they averaged 1500 or less. I saw a few horse colts sell at the last of the sale for less than 400. One of them had...

    No CAB cheerleading please

Here is a quote from Dun's article. As weights increased, ribeye size had to grow proportionately for carcasses to remain below Yield Grade 4. The question begs : Can the black cattle breeders not lower back fat while maintaining quality grades? Secondly , how will this affect the amount...

Vertical Integration of the Beef Industry

I espoused some hopeful expectation I would have if an individual or corporation, probably several of each would start the process of vertical integration in earnest. I'll copy my post here. Bez or others please feel free to agree or disagree and provide logic to support your feelings. I guess...

    Ugly

Dad had one of these this past week end. Not a pretty sight. Several generations of Angus on the bottom and several generations of Saler on the top. Odd deal http://www.vet.ksu.edu/media/images/the ... /ga-58.jpg

proceedings of the 6th conference on artificial insemination

I wish this idea would have been the standard instead of the one we now use. Date line Jan 15 1972: National Sire Evaluation: Dr. R. L. Willham Iowa state Program The sire evaluation program proposed by BIF is a procedure that develops fair comparisons among a large number of sires based on...

    JD 290 swather

It is off season for my swather so I am going through it replacing what needs to be. I replaced a pully that drives the roller on the long side . While I was in there I decided to put new bearing in . My question is on the short side the bearing is a little loose and the roller is worn. It is a...

    fat woman

I got the feeling someone was looking at me today, I turned around and there was a big ole fat woman , slack jawed , in the predrool stage staring at me. I said how are you. She said we had to move because we didn't have room for the twins. I (being stupid and taking a chance here ) said Oh are...

    Quadrajunk troubles

I have a quadrajet carb that floods if you let it set 5 or 10 minuites or longer. After a couple hours the gas evaporates I guess and it starts fine. Needle valves? Gasket broke? Should I throw a new one on and through the old one over the hill?

    Stoping a bleeder when dehorning.

I tipped a steer today and he was bleeding from three or four arteries. I normally turn them out and never loose one but I remembered hearing on this forum I think that wraping wire around the base of the horn and tightening with pliars would stop the bleeding. I tried it and it worked very...
