    Overseeding pearl millet

Hi, I would like to get a stand of pearl millet of Milo going this year but currently don't have a tractor to disk it in. I'm located in central Texas. Would it be a total waste to overseed 5 acres of millet or Sudan this month into native grass pasture? Anyone tried this? I understand the...

    Remedy

So which is the better product for basilar spraying mesquites? Is it remedy or remedy ultra?

    Remedy

I have wondered the same thing. Several years ago when I started my mesquite killing quest it seemed to do very well and most of the first ones I sprayed are dead. but the mesquites I sprayed last year all browned out and lost their leaves but then most of them came right back this spring. I...

    Sendero

How long does it take to see signs of mesquite dying after being sprayed by sendero? Thanks.

    Coastal

Thanks for the replies. I'm located in central Texas so the winters aren't too cold usually. I've got a pasture that's got a lot of common and is just a couple acres. I'm thinking about doing my own sprigging in the bermuda that's already there. Basically just run a tiller every 10 ft or so and...

    Coastal

So hypothetically speaking if a pasture had half coastal and half common intermixed throughout and it was fertilized to soil samples and grazed rotationally leaving plenty of reserve. Would the coastal or the common bermuda eventually take over or would they probably stay the same proportions?

    Broadcasting into Pasture

We have had great success just slinging it on short mowed or grazed pasture. A good hard rain will work it Into the soil and it come up thick. We seed 30 lbs per acre. Good luck

    Strip Grazing?

With strip grazing you start at a water source and allow them acces to the area around it. As they eat up that small area(a common practice is a day or two of grazing per move) you move back the temporary electric fence and give them another small area that will last them another couple days...

    Mesquite regrowth

Thanks for the replies. I will add that most of these trees were about 6-12 inche's in diameter before cut down. Hopefully there is enough above the ground to take poison down and kill the root.

    Mesquite regrowth

What is the best way to kill the regrowth from mesquite trees that were cut down at ground level with a chainsaw and stumps sprayed with remedy and diesel but for some reason they have come back alive? Most of the trees I cut have not come back but there are some small 2-3 ft bushes that are...

    grazing cattle and sheep together

We have both cattle and sheep and rotationally graze them in one flerd. They do fine together. Most of our cross fencing is 3 wire electric and does fine with the sheep. 1 out of 100 sheep in this past year figured out that she could go through it. She got shipped shortly after.

    Overseeding bermuda

I wanted to give an update on that pasture. I ended up deciding to try and seed it. I seeded it @ 10 lbs an acre then scratched the ground with a 4 wheeler implement then we got 5 inches of rain the next 2 days. I grazed it for a few days after the rain and now a couple weeks after there are...

    Overseeding bermuda

Thanks for all the replies. I went ahead and overseeded it before this hard rain we had. After I spread the seed I scraped the ground with a small spring tooth pulled by a 4 wheeler. Maybe it will sprout alright. If it will establish over the next few years I'll be happy with that. If it doesn't...

    Overseeding bermuda

Thanks for the replies. I've been treating all of the stumps as I've cut them so the ones I've killed are dead and won't come back. I'm also planning to spray sendero on the little ones that come up from seed. that pasture is still a tire hazard due to all the branches that broke off as I...

    Overseeding bermuda

Hi,I've got a small 5 acre pasture that was pretty thick mesquite up until I cleared it last spring. The native grasses are fairly thin and there are stumps all over it from the mesquites. Gettin a tractor in there isn't going to happen for a while due to the thorns and stumps so I am thinking...

    Oats a bust?

They are looking good with all the rain we've had! It took it a while to get here but once it finally did it came in hard. Guess the old saying when it rains it pours is pretty accurate.

    Thank God for the rain

Glad we finally got it but I'm pretty sure that the 120 lbs of urea an acre I put down is all gone. With 13 inches of rain I can't imagine much hanging around. At least we got rain though. Sunny weather this week so maybe the winter grasses will begin to come up.

    Oats a bust?

Well with virtually no rain in central Texas this fall there are a lot of oats sitting in dry power right now and a whole lot that havnt been planted yet. It seemed like a lot of guys were planting towards the end of September and since then but with no rain since and none in the forecast is...
