    BSE & Trich

I would have the person I loaned the bull to pay the expenses, before he returns him. That is a crazy amount. We pay a $50 trip fee, $45/bull for semen BSE, and $20 for TRIC plus $25 lab fee to state.

Big foot and a dead calf

Does her hoof have a sand crack? Once it made it up to the coronet band, it caused irritation and it infected. Soaking it in epsom salt will draw the infection out. Antibiotics recommended.

    County extension

We had one in our county when I was growing up. His name was Joe Legg. He would go on crop walks, be in the office to examine plants brought in, lead county meetings on ag related information, help at county fair, ect. He went to other countries to tour their crops and animals and was a...

    Angus heifers

Are you talking about Bill Conley (BC Angus) from Clarksdale, MO? His son Kyle raises Angus in Oklahoma..Conley Cattle Company. He has been running the Angus Shows with bulls and now his son is showing in Junior Show. He does do a handful of Sim-Angus, I think to get some extra buyers.

    What happened to Connealy Clarity?

I believe he got a simple prepuce infection that went unchecked at ORIgen.

What is this petrified looking rock,

I believe it is Coral. Look up Fossil Coral. We find alot of it near rivers and in caves, ect. in Eastern Iowa.

    What happened to Connealy Clarity?

That is EXACTLY why Brian McCulloh wanted ORIgen to explain WHY Woodhill Relevance died. The bull died less than a couple of years after he sold to ABS. Brian didn't want anyone to think that there was something funny going on, so it was stated that he died from an infection. I remember the...

    1ton vs 3/4ton truck shopping

I have had that same thing happen to me twice now. Drove over a bridge while on a 2 lane highway and all at once it went crazy. I started to pull over and slow up, and it quit. My Ford F350 is only a 2017 with 21,000 miles on it. Is that a warranty thing? I purchased the extended warranty.

What is a "Death Wobble" and what causes it?

Moved and have tentatively opted to change my whole life..

The kitchen photo shows a stove top with a glass top. I believe you have an electric stove top...no gas there. Enjoy slowing down.

    Stockpile 2022

Same here is Eastern Iowa. Paid $45 for little 600 lb straight pasture grass and felt lucky.

    TransOva or conventional flush?

They are all about the same actually. My first flush with Bovetiq gave me 100% transfer success. The next yielded 50%. The cow and bull used makes a lot of difference. I now go where it is most economical.

    Dex/Lute Question

Inducing a cow a week before their due date is DIFFERENT than trying to abort a short term bred animal. Inducing labor is used when you are worried that the calf will be large, either due to genetics or a lot of time due to using IVF embryo work. When inducing, you use Dexamethazone to help...

    TransOva or conventional flush?

I have used TransOva, Boviteq, and Vittelle. TransOva & Boviteq use either conventional or IVF. Vittelle is only IVF. I have found that conventional embryos are "stickier" than IVF. Conventional flushes require more straws of semen and sexed semen if you are trying to create heifers, whereas...

    Fair Haul Rates

He said he would come get them, but now realizes that it is a 5 hour drive one way, and it will take him a whole day to get them. Would like me to haul them or at least meet him half way. I guess he figures his time is more important than his.

    Fair Haul Rates

So what would you charge to take 10 heifer & 2 bull calves 333 miles one way? I will have to add that I sold these calves to the person that I am hauling them for. He wants me to bring them to him.

    Cull Bull$$$

Cull bulls here sold for $85-$96 on Monday. I would do what "wbvs58" said and take him to the sale barn for your buyer to pick up at the Going Rate. That way he won't feel like you asked too much for him, and he will get a deal. He is only going to keep him for a short time, so why give him...

    Opinion on Angus heifer

I am curious on other photos. When her head is up, how does she look? Cattle of late break behind their shoulder and a grazing photo disguises this. I see her as flat muscled and angular. As Lee stated....wait until she is in production to see how much of an easy keeper she is.
