    Best New Tractor 45-60 HP

The Massey does everything I need it to do, has about 1500 hours on it & still going strong. Have had some minor electrical issues but overall I'm happy with it. I mostly use it to bale hay as that's all we do around the farm anymore. As far as the FEL it would certainly be handy but I try to...

    Best New Tractor 45-60 HP

I have a MF2680HD with MFWD & a loader. This tractor is for mowing & pushing snow, nothing more.

    Best New Tractor 45-60 HP

Yeah it's the "taken care of" part that's my concern. I've gone the used tractor route a few times with mixed results. This one I'd like some peace of mind to come with my purchase. I don't need 4x4 or a FEL. Just a solid reliable tractor to do, for a tractor, light work.

    Best New Tractor 45-60 HP

Due to an unforeseen matter I'm going to be needing to buy a new midsize tractor in the next few months. The tractors primary use will be to mow a large, kind of rough, yard pulling an 84" finish mower. It will also be used for brushogging & snow removal. I know the recommendation is always...

    Hay Season 2017

The old Lewis turkey farm. Sad situation, had to be auctioned off to pay off loans. They've auctioned off several other sections the last few years. This was all that was left. As the crow flies it's probably 10 miles from my house.

Leasing Out My Land For Hay

I have 30-35 acres of really nice hay fields I'm interested in leasing out for next years hay season. Due to a new job I simply don't have the time to deal with it anymore. The stand is mixed grass & legumes, fertilized to 100% of what's called for by soil samples & averaged just under 2.5...

    Woods vs. Bush Hog????

Thanks for all the input. Ended up buying the Bush Hog. I hadn't seen either model in person when I posted this. After looking at them today I liked the single axle design on the Bush Hog better & the flared body design so no chains are required. Plus the mower I'm replacing is a Bush Hog...

    Woods vs. Bush Hog????

Lol around here I think I could ask apple pie or peach pie & somehow we'd end up at Ford vs. Chevy. Well by my count that's 2 votes for Woods & 2 votes for tie.

    Woods vs. Bush Hog????

My 23 year old finish mower just went kaput so I'm in need of a new one. Local dealer carries both Woods & Bush Hog so service & parts will be equally available. Both are 84" rear discharge. Gave me my pick of either one for the same price... Anyone have a preference? Any differences I should...

    Land clearing in KY

No we didn't graze it, just let it grow all year. Matter of fact I just brush hogged it off the 1st time a few weeks ago. Yes there's still some tops & stumps that didn't burn but mostly what's left is piles of dirt from the dozer & boulders. I doubt that will ever get cleaned up probably just...

    Land clearing in KY

No cover crops. Limed & fertilized & then sowed a grass/legume mix mid fall. I found that time of year to be a really nice to work on this kind of project. I did burn the big brush pile, before I sowed the grass seed if recall correctly. One heck of a fire; burnt big for 3 days & smoldered for...

My wife said I was crazy...

Two have names. One is color based "red" the other is attitude based, when she showed up she had a bit of a chip on her shoulder so she got named after someone my wife & I both know who acts very much the same "Ann." She acts much better now, but the name stuck.

    Private Treaty Sales Advice

4 cows, 2 bred heifers & 4 heifers born this year 2 spring & 2 fall & 1 bull. Though I'm seriously considering having the bull butchered for my freezer.

    Private Treaty Sales Advice

Due to some unforeseen circumstances I have decided to sell my small herd of balancer cows & heifers. These are all high quality animals with excellent genetics. I'd like to avoid the sale barn if at all possible but I'm not really sure how to go about marketing my stock or setting prices for...

Overly Mature Hay to Bale or Not to Bale

Ended up with 696 square bales & that was only baling roughly 60% of the field. Tuesday went smooth as could be, Wed. was a Murphy's law kind of day & it rained on the hay early Thu. morning so I decided to shut it down & call it a year. I didn't have my usual hay crew, just my Wife, my...
