    Ford 3415 PTO

I was doing some light mowing yesterday with a Ford 3415 and 5’ cutter. I had engaged and disengaged PTO multiple times no issues. When I finished mowing I noticed the PTO didn’t disengage. The clutch will disengage just not the lever. I also notice the lever will travel further than normal. It...

    Cow Down

I noticed she has been slower moving last couple of days and now she is down. She has swollen membrane protruding from the tops of eyes and a pool of diarrhea. I suspect she could have eaten something poisonous from the shed when a gate was left open and she got into it. Any suggestions?

    Question About Homeowners Insurance

So my wife and I are interested in buying a place on some acreage. The dwelling is roughly the same value as the land. Seems like the homeowners policy should only cover the structure value and not the total loan amount of the property. I asked the lender this question and didn't get a straight...

    Nutsedge

I have a large crop of nutsedge this year. I'm guessing the flooding we had last year spawned it, I don't know. I've been told by the locals nothing can really be done. Neighbor is trying to disk an replant grass. My googling tells about the same other than keeping drained and planting a cover...

    Moving Weak Cattle in Water

Any ideas how I can move 8 cows 1 mile down the road in 4' to 5' of water? Afraid to push them in deep water because they haven't eaten much, losing condition, and been standing in water for 6 days. Can we some how tow them w a boat? Or is the only way to swim them? Wondering if there is any...

    Bullied Heifers

I always have one that is pushed around and stays skinny. I have gotten rid of aggressive boss cows, have gotten rid of the poor doer giving me trouble, and the next in line takes its place. These are usually heifers I will keep. Last year I turned out a weaned steer with the herd I kept for...

    Box Blind Size

I need to build a box blind, for two grown people and also a small child that may go from time to time. What size would you recommend? 4x6, 4x8 or ? I was actually thinking of a 5x?. I don't want it too big, but want to be comfortable.

    Whoever Controls Food/Resources-Bundy Video

Good video published Dec 10th. Somewhat goes along with the 'Whoever Controls Food' discussion. I believe this is a real life example of what is happening. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNPNRmEHBb0

    Stihl Chainsaw

I am looking at picking up a new all around chainsaw, thinking either the MS250 or MS271. One is considered a homeowner and the other a farm and ranch. Other than the added description of high performance for the MS271, anyone know if there is much difference? MS271 is another $40... I am...

    Driven Well w Point

Anyone ever use a well point for water in remote area? Success? Looks to be a pain in the azz but would be worth it, if it worked in a remote location. Found this site for description. http://www.backwoodshome.com/drive-your-own-freshwater-well/

    Bad Luck and a Decision

2nd heifer prolapsed. Vet says I would be throwing money away to perform the surgery. Heifer won't get up. Either a bullet or try to get her to a butcher. Don't think she would taste good after all that stress. What do y'all think?

    Dead heifer

Unfortunately I had a dead heifer yesterday. I am kind of puzzled. She was next to the water trough and was like she just fell over dead. She was bloated, slight smell, and flies all over her. She wasnt stiff. There was slight blood on her anus, nose, on ground by her head. Her eyes were cloudy...

    Trailer Brakes

Did a break job on the flatbed trailer. Changed out all components but the hubs. Three of the 4 brakes work. The one that isn't is getting 8 volts. Any suggestions? Can't figure it out. Also I have to crank the brake controller maxed out for the brakes to "work". The trailer brakes will stop...

    Masterlock-Master Key?

Anyone know about a master key that will work on a masterlock? Came across a trespasser yesterday, had my gate open. Asked how he has a key to my gate, said he has a master key.

    Help-Fence Post Lifting

I went and tightened up my back run of fence wire. A few days later notice I had a section of T post lifted in a natural drainage area. That area is unusually soft from the rains and continual wet. I was thinking about replacing with 4" wooden posts, but not sure in this condition if that will...

    Water Trough Preference

Gonna buy a 100 to 150 gal water trough to put in the pasture. It may be something I move weekly until I get better set up. I was thinking the Rubbermaid might be a more durable application than the metal ones. Looking for opinions.
