    Next Legendary Simmental Bull

Ron and Kris, I'm very excited to have you and yours watch this little guy grow. We've had excellent carcass contest results with the marriage of Simmental and Belgian Blue. Plus, they are PRETTY!!! Will be eager to watch him grow and the results. The tanned hide idea would be fantastic. :)

Belgian Blue - Facts or Fiction

So... Belgian blue is totally opposite of dairy. Dairy are unwanted because of poor feed conversion. Blues have one of the highest feed conversions. You get WAY more pounds with fewer inputs. I'm not sure how that's a problem. And with breeds that finish and fatten early, seems advantageous...

Belgian Blue - Facts or Fiction

Belgian cattle don't hurt the industry. When the crossbreds are entered in carcass contests they usually turn up at the top after all the data is entered. There have been many studies. The data is there, they would be an asset if people would be willing to put them in their program.

Who's feeling a little Christmas spirit??

Some folks have just a "family cow" Usually kept with a handful of other critters. But I'm sure eventually he'll gain or grow a bovine companion to her. :)

Who's feeling a little Christmas spirit??

Haven't been on in a while. This is a friend of mine; he's a super nice guy. He likes beef and all that jazz, but once in a while there's a cow or critter that just works their way into your heart. He's trying to buy her off the farm he works at, works hard, but as we know, almost anything in...

    Growing heifers

You think I'm jumping in without knowing what you've posted? I've been watching a long time now. I know all about the "helper bulls" and that you don't really have any EPDs on them. I think what we have will line up more consistent any day of the week due to selection, not just "helpers" and...

    Growing heifers

Linda, Do you really think you are going to hurt me with this?? #1 we use Belgian Blue. A breed that is amazing, but best used for crossing for safe calving. We've been using this wonderful breed for two decades already and we typically cross with Simmental. #2 we AI with purebred bulls. Bulls...

    Growing heifers

No meds required. It's pretty hard to get consistent when you're not even sure which bull is the daddy.

The good die young... It hurts to get attached.

Not real sure but possibly. Brought her in the barn so she wouldn't get roughed up more. Had the hoof trimmer look at her and he's who told us it was not the foot but up the the body, he thought it was more up in the hips. We were hoping time in would help, cause many times just time away from...

The good die young... It hurts to get attached.

We shipped Eve Thursday. It was very hard. She was a great cow during her years of service, despite the odds. She was orphaned at month cause her mother didn't bond with her, we tried many times to help but the dam nearly killed her. Shipped the mom. At about 500# she broke both her front...

That is. He looks fairly respectable(for the breed) with maturity on him, don't you think?
