How long of notice to give pasture lessee?

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, he has said he will move some off. I will see how it goes. I am going to give him until the end of May to fix it. He is running 20 head on 60 acres, when the deal was 10 head. If he decides to push me, I am going to tell him that I am giving him his money...

How long of notice to give pasture lessee?

All, How long should you give a lessee when terminating a pasture lease? I have someone leasing my pasture on a verbal lease who has decided to overstock it - outside of what we agreed to. Thanks, Joseph

Deer not coming to the feeder

Thanks for the replies. The source of other food might actually be the problem. Never thought about that.

Deer not coming to the feeder

All, I just put up a feeder this fall. It is sort of setup in a triangle of fence. Barbed wire on 2 sides, 1 electric wire on the other side (30"). The triangle is big enough for them to feel comfortable jumping in, I think (60' plus across in the center). I am currently throwing 3...

    Need suggestions for tree variety

Well, I think I have decided on live oak. Cedar elms look good, but are expensive. I can get 15 gallon live oaks for $20. I figure that I will trench in a water line out there to them. That should fix the slow growth issue, to some extent.

    Grocery store experience..

A year or so ago I was in the grocery store - lady in front of me had a shopping cart heaped over the top with groceries. 3 kids. I was thinking - wow that is going to cost a fortune - rang up to $360. I had never seen a bill like that for groceries. Well, guess what, whips out the lone star...

    Septic Tank Pump Question

Yeah, I hear you Jogeephus. Talked to a couple of buddies at work, they think I should leave it open (it is the only valve to the drain field). The pump does have a performance curve that requires a minimum fluid head, but that is already met with the height of lift out of the tank. I would...

    Another hog slaughter question

Yeah, one of my posts got hit in the pastures, grass and hay board by this person. Figured I was getting eye strain and just went to bed when I read it..

    Septic Tank Pump Question

All, thanks for the replies. I guess I will just leave it alone. It sounds like the general thought is that 3/4 open won't burn the pump up prematurely. That was my concern. I appreciate the comments..... Joseph

    Septic Tank Pump Question

All, Hoping someone can help me. Just pulled my pump from my low-dose (low pressure pipe) system (very similar to aerobic, except no chlorine tank, and uses a drain field instead of sprinklers). The person who originally installed it choked the ball valve going to the field lines to...

    Good or Bad Idea

My neighbors peel, wash, freeze in ziplok bags as mentioned above. I keep mine in racks I built - just some 1x4 frames with chicken wire bottoms. I dig them, let them air cure for a week or 2, then throw then in the racks (leave the dirt residue on, dont wash). The key is to have the air flow...

Thanks to sky! Anyone else like radish sandwiches

Wow, my mom used to make these. Homemade bread, butter, and some salt. I had completely forgotten about this. I will have some in the garden this fall for sure. Thanks for reminding me about this. I'll definitely try it with a cold beer this time. I wasn't old enough to drink the last time...

Tips for dealing with weeds in the garden?

I am fighting the same battle. Just plowed up my new garden this spring. My neighbor across the road suggested multiple diskings. Disk, let some weeds grow in, disk them under. After the garden is done, that is. Mine is done for the summer, just disked it up this weekend. Plan to do this a...
