    Salorn

Thought I'd check in and see how your heifers are fairing. Also thought I'd ask where you are located. Kit

    Longhorn Cross

Yes he is a 18 month old fullblood Piedmontese. Got him from a nice older fellow up in Illinois. His registered name is Hawk's Shawnee Bert. Most of my cows are Pied/Salers/Longhorn crosses.

    Longhorn Cross

He belongs to a guy I get hay from sometimes. I told him to cook him or sell him. I didn't get anything from him.

    Longhorn Cross

Back towards the front I posted some pictures of a few longhorn crosses. Here is the most longhorn looking one again after getting in with the neighbors "LBW" black bull(I think he is Brangus). He is a runty looking bull and it shows in the calf. Her previous calves looked longhorn in color but...

    Piedmontese cross heifer

Myostatin, as part of the Igenity Profile, analyzes for nine different variants of the myostatin gene, even though some may not be found in all breeds. Six variants are classified as “disruptive;” these cause muscle hypertrophy (double-muscling), larger birth weights, increased dystocia and...

    Piedmontese cross heifer

I am the owner of PAUS membership number one. I was raised on Pied. My grandfather died not long after that picture was taken. He was working hard on his own composite. He wanted 5/8 Pied and 3/8 Salers. He was just getting there. My father wasn't that way. He just went commercial with what he...

    Piedmontese cross heifer

Here is a throw back, my namesake animal at the Denver Stock Show. My grandfather had the first Pied born in the US. Masterkit was 3/4 Pied IIRC... Also, Piedmontese have been in the America's since before 84...

    Piedmontese bull opinions please

I'd be happy if they did. Haven't heard anyone is yet... This time Next year I will be going with Hugo for AI most likely. Maybe not if I can get some from a Anaborapi bull I like before then. I'll also be on the hunt for some full blood heifers.

    Piedmontese bull opinions please

How old is he in the picture? What bulls are in herd already? $18 per straw isn't bad but... Maybe they will get the Anaborapi/IVF issue figured out soon!

    Longhorn Cross

A couple of these cows have a pretty good amount of Piedmontese in them as did the bull that one was out of. The cow in that picture was actually really down right then. They had been on a winter pasture. My father hadn't moved them yet when he died in March. (2014) I had to scramble to get some...

    Russian Breeds???

Thanks for the information. I am still waiting to find out more about this guy. I bet he is registered but this guy didn't seem to know anything about animals at all. This weekend I'm going to try to get a name out of him of the previous owner.

    Russian Breeds???

That's what I heard the other day. My aunt said about 4 years ago or so she saw some at the Pope Country Fair. I am actually from Hector but haven't lived there in abut 20 years. I live just outside Russellville. As far as I can tell the closest farm with Romagnola cattle is in Hartman.

    Longhorn Cross

    Longhorn/Salers/Peidmontese crosses.

    Russian Breeds???

I'm assuming by "that one" you mean the red one on the left, yes she is a heifer. She will be 2 in April.

    Russian Breeds???

Romagnola is a Podolic Breed as are the Piedmontese and Chainina. That is what had me confused when he said it was Russian. Here he is with my Piedmontese/Salers/Longhorn crosses this afternoon.

    Russian Breeds???

I thought it was possible. When I looked up the Grey's they look a lot like Italian breed cattle such as Romagnola or Piedmontese. Not built like a Pied though. I'd like to know for sure if he is and see what size calves he typically throws...

    Russian Breeds???

He doesn't look so large in this picture. He is pretty massive though. He was given to this guy because he is tame. As in too dangerous for the previous owner. Doesn't sound right to me... I may try breeding him to a few cows and see what I get. They are due to be bred now and I don't have my...

    Russian Breeds???

Saw a bull today. The guy doesn't know much about cows. Bull was given to him. He said he was told it was "something like a Blue Russian or close to that"... I'm going to try to get the previous owner's information from him. He looks like some breeds such as a Romanian Grey or Ukrainian Grey. I...
