    Oh yeah, they passed!

You do realize that five more weeks to the male species might as well be an enternity. I am not sure you understand that the male species might not be prompt about some things but when it comes to the real deal we be a bit serious.

Dang he looks rather large. What would he weigh?

    Premature Calves

Google neospora cannium and educate yourself. Cull cows or heifers that lose calves for any reason.

    New herd sire

He should work well for you. Lots of things good about him.

    New herd sire

Tell us more about the bull. If I had to guess he looks like a Thedford or Man in Black son.

I would further add he is on my list of a bull to sample. He is going to be used back in the Spickler herd as well. He will not add mature size.

He was the lot 1 bull from their last sale. When his mother calved as a two yr old they were so impressed with her that they wanted semen back on 7861. At that time I owned the bull entirely. The rest is history I guess. The authentic bull is a good son of a gun. His feet and phenotype are as...

If I remember correctly it was Katpau that initially posted the picture of Right Time 7861. In all truthfulness I have to give the real credit to the breeders of the bull Justin and Sarah Spickler and their family. Wonderful people who multiply the good ones.

    Phenotype

It’s the modern phenotype. It’s been trending that way for awhile. The picture posted is of the more extreme example. Likely why she is for sale.

    FerAppease for Adoptions

That’s what we noticed here. First bunch of calves we used it on I really couldn’t see any difference. Skipped it on the rest. Still have a little left so I guess it couldn’t hurt to try it on a cow we are grafting a calf on.

I find this all very interesting. Some believe that the problems that feedlots are having at lower elevations is because of of cattle that have a weak cardiovascular system. They theorize that by selecting for lower pap some of this can be avoided. Right Time 7861 was raised at about 1500 ft...

Did you have any surprises good or bad with how you bulls did on test and pap score?

    CE vs Full gestation.

No calf vigor issues here. Our AI sites both come from real cow outfits. Calves will be 265 to 275 days gestation.

    Spring is in Full Swing

We absolutely love the maternal aptitude the Right Time daughters have here. I will have to watch for them on DV. Right Time has been leased to GENEX so they have the North American semen rights from this point forward. ABS Australia still has their rights in Australia and New Zealand.

    Spring is in Full Swing

I assume you have calved some Right Time daughters? I am curious as to how they are doing for you? Udders, maternal temperament etc.

S Architect and Deep Creek Square Deal. Just starting but looking good so far. The first two Architect daughters have calved.

    Angus DOC EPD?

There is a sign in a ND sale barn that says let your eyes be your judge and your pocket book be your guide. I think it applies here. Many seem to assume that epds are an absolute. They are not and if we use them to help guide what our eyes see they work. Heritability is not the same in every...

    Angus DOC EPD?

For the most part yes but I have looked at genomics scores of animals that were in the bottom 30% that were very docile so it’s not an absolute. For me personally I don’t even look at the docility epd unless it’s an animal that has a questionable pedigree then it’s an observe and verify...

EDP Comparisons and How they fit in an real cattle operation.

I agree with Gowyo in that top 10% is a good place to be for the traits you want. Population genetics allows you to do that without upsetting the apple cart. Pedigree is still relevant but shouldn’t be the end all be all. When I bought Right Time 7861 I wasn’t looking for a bull with Chisum as...

    Let's talk Udders

It will be interesting how they integrate all the numbers. Generational turnover has been rewarded in the past so maybe the updated system will at least not favor those who turn generations the fastest. Time will tell I guess. I like long lived cows so maybe it helps us find the sires that make...
