    2025 Bull and Projects

Docility is a deal breaker for us. There were two separate instances locally here last summer. In one they had separated the bull from the cows like they always had. He got the man down, then his wife when she attempted to help and then another lady they had called. Fortunately she brought their...

    Prices down

The numbers were down here. I feel both wet conditions and the market played a factor. Several consigned early canceled. We had planned to sell some possibly tomorrow. Will wait 2-3 weeks now. Most are lighter calves on their mothers on graze out wheat. My barn managers are saying the remaining...

    Prices down

At the sales in this area the last two days I have been told those over 500 lbs have been down 10-15 dollars a hundred. The heavier ones taking more of a hit. Blaming it on the board and tariffs. Glad we sold ours 10 days ago. Would like to hear what others are seeing elsewhere. Hopefully...

All of this grass is privately owned. No BLM. Each pasture is different. How much of it burned is a determining factor. Also some have been back on since a few days after as they have no where to hold them. They feed hay and cake every day. The grass has greened up and needs growth now. Two of...

    Enid Oklahoma sale

There were some local heifer pairs bring $5,500 in late February. Since the prices have dropped and movement slowed. Was you at the last sale. Have a friend who buys there and makes every special sale. He felt the last sale was softer and prices down from the previous sale.

    Market still high

That is higher than we have been the last few weeks. There was several in the $4,750 range with a high of $5,500!in late February. With the fires and drought demand here had decreased. Expect with the rain we received too see the demand and price to increase. Although it will be at least two...

    Enid Oklahoma sale

With the rains expect the pair prices to jump some. Expect lighter calves to also. Both were steady the last two weeks around here. A local breeder has heifer pairs at Fairview today. Will be interesting what they bring.

    Enid Oklahoma sale

We had a bull that was a frame 7 and weighed 2,500-2,600 plus year round. His daughters are around 1,500 lbs cows on average. A few over and a few under. We want a bull to weigh 2.200 or more. We need the size for our buyers. It is getting harder too find the good big bull. So many have went to...

    Homozygous black testing

They didn’t in the past here. I had to tell them no cut for color. The last 1-2 years they have left them on even when I sold at a new barn. One manager told me as long as there is only a few they usually leave them on.

    Homozygous black testing

I don’t worry here. We don’t sell bulls usually.Have sold a few at weaning someone wanted. Even those I retain we don’t test. Here the few reds and Hereford colored calves sell with the blacks and baldies.

    West Central Oklahoma fires

An update. The FSA had a meeting for those that lost cattle, grass and fence yesterday. Said they had approval from Washington. Told us what programs would be available and the requirements for each. Not as good as previous fires and the requirements for acceptance is more stringent. Feel lost...
