    Cattle Leasing Rates

Here it's a flat rate of $25-40 an acre. We run a cow to 4-6 acres. Facilities and fences make a difference in price Last I checked for $30 a month someone would run the cow for you. You buy feed they do all the work.

    Fertilizer Prices

How much fertizer are y'all putting per acre. We are planning on drilling grass seed this year and hate to even call. I've done the soil sample method in the past but it doesn't always work out.

Any ideas to get a down cow up

I forgot about this but I had a cow go down at a friend's place several years back. After a few days I told him to shoot her. He called me a few weeks later and said she got up and to come get her. He said he just kept feed and water in front of her once a day. I couldn't believe it.

Any ideas to get a down cow up

No joking here but my neighbor picked one up with hip huggers every day after work for about 3 weeks. I could see his tractor lights across the pasture every night. He'd drink a few beers until she got tired of standing. She finally got better. I've never had that luck. Good luck with her, hip...

Any ideas to get a down cow up

Have you tried holding a plastic bag over her nose and mouth. Sugar water will get them up too. Saw a video of a show heifer that wouldn't get up and a guy bit her on the tail, she jumped right up.

    GPS for spraying??

Couple guys at work use the app or a version like it and say it's great. One uses an old iPad and the other uses his phone. Others can probably give better advice, I use a Trimble ezguide 250 I've had for years.

    3/18 prices East Texas

We aren't having the green up we usually do and the cattle are still coming up for feed. Hoping we get some warmer nights soon.

    3/18 prices East Texas

Hard decision to keep the calves or sell. We've got a group been on feed for 110 days, do we sell or get the free gain from the fresh grass. I know I'll get slammed for saying free but we don't run enough cows to eat all the early rye grass. So if nothings there to eat it we have to mow it.

    Sight Barriers In Corral

The place I send cattle to has an old piece of tin on the gate that crowds the cattle onto the trailer. I always wondered why one gate out of 25 had a piece of old tin tied to it. Loaded some wild yearlings one day and found out. That tin was a life saver.

    GREAT PLAINS NTS2609

I haven't tried it yet. I'm looking mid April also. Been pricing Red River Crab Grass and Dallis grass seed for some poor pastures. Holler back after you try it out.

Mineral: I'm Obviously Doing It Wrong

My understanding was that walking ads muscle, promotes growth, and keeps the animals active. Making them run is another story. Our yearlings are grazing 180 acres right now. There are 5 pools on it and I think they see them all every day. They just slowly graze around in the mornings and evenings.

Mineral: I'm Obviously Doing It Wrong

We have a few pastures that we have to put the mineral by water or they won't eat much. Always makes me wonder. Same cows different pasture....

@CowboyRam I like those ties staggered like that. That chute will definitely last a lifetime.

What is your opinion on this Brangus bull?

Angus X and Brangus X cows. We've got 2 Brangus and 2 Ultrablack bulls on them. We primarily used Hereford bulls until last year.

Mineral: I'm Obviously Doing It Wrong

We were always told not to place mineral near water. Also told in a bull pasture to place mineral as far from feed or water as possible to encourage walking. Everything about mineral is like some sort of black magic.

    Semi Load Out Chute

I'll probably add a handrail later. Trying to decide if I should make a little ladder at front of walk way then handrail along ramp or a handrail that goes up ramp and across the front. The rubber boards are available here for around $50 for an 8"x2"x80". I looked into using them but it was...
