I would suggest that you contact the embryologist that you will be using so he/she can provide you with the protocol for this procedure. Also, are you proficient at AI or will you have someone to do that for you also?

From our experience, heifers are extremely aggravating. We have since given up on AI'ing heifers since you never know when or if they will come into heat to be AI'd.

I agree. Also, we've struggled trying to get heifers to come in heat to AI. We've decided going forward to let heifers run with out low BW bull and AI cows that have calved at least once naturally.

We use 7 days on heifers and cows.

I saw no signs. He also used the heat patch on the tail head that shows bright orange after they have been rode. Didn't look to me like they had been rode. Just seemed odd that out of the group, you would have noticed a couple of them riding the ones in heat.

Neighbor of mine went through a group of heifers to sync for AI (CIDR's, lute) on and no signs of heat. After 7 days, he gave them another shot of lute and still no signs of heat. He's thinking he may have something going on with water, feed, etc. that could be preventing heat?? Not sure what...
