We got 60 babies in our 24'. Ranged from under 100 lbs and up.

We use Y-tex tags in the cows. They are a 2 piece tag, but we have really good retention with them. In the calves we use Z-tag feedlot tags.

Oh, Yeah, the snow is gone. Pretty much on schedule this year, snow melted mostly in mid March, and the grass is started to grow now.

We've calved a few in really cold weather. Last April (Easter time) we were seeing -30 C overnight. We were done the first cycle by then, but March wasn't real sweet either. I've seen about 3 calves born backwards in 20 years. I'm sure it happens more often than we think it does. And, I am sure some of the 'stillborn' calves that are found were likely backwards and the cow didn't finish pushing/get up quick enough and the calf suffocated with it's head still inside...

I don't worry about malpresentations happening again in the same cow. I've got the records to back it up. Other than one cow, years ago that had 3 backwards calves, I don't think I've had a cow have more than 1 malpresentation in her life.
