    Sick calf

Using draxxin. They are all beginning to lose their winter coat. So, the extended neck is a sign of pneumonia? I’ll have to remember that. He just separated himself out this afternoon. Let’s hope I caught it soon enough. Thanks for the info!

    Sick calf

I noticed this calf off by himself. When I got him up he was walking strange almost like he couldn’t see but there is no pink eye. I got behind him and he walked to the catch pen. He seems to be holding his head up a little. I gave him antibiotics and pain killer. Any ideas?

Bottle calf! Some say I'm crazy...

This guy was a twin. He had a will to live!! He grew up as a pet. I even taught him to heel like a dog. (I also train dogs). One of the toughest things I have done was walking away from him in the sale barn.

    calf with broken leg

It is fiberglass. We put a lot of cotton and wrap. The wrap was tight enough to keep the leg in place but not super tight. We check the top of the cast to see how tight it gets. But you never know. My friend has a vibrating type saw that will cut the cast but not the calf. I would really...

    calf with broken leg

Do you need to splint it or watch it after you take the cast off? I will do the three weeks. Is it hard to control the calf when you take the cast off? Thanks for the advice……greatly appreciated!

    calf with broken leg

I have read through the other threads but would like some more input. the cow must have stepped on the calf when she had twins. The lower part of the leg was broken and you could move it. We tried to splint it but it kept sliding down. after two days we decided to cast it. My wife is an...

    Eye Problem

I have a few like this. But, they usually have the bottom part of the eye lid hanging down because it was cut. They heal up just fine. This will be the fifth cow this has happened to. I could see an injury for one or two but having 5 seems like there is another problem. I sent a pic to...

    Eye Problem

I have had three cows in the past couple of years have this problem. Part of the eye lid was hanging on the others so we thought they be scratching on a metal post or something and cut it. But, this cow doesnt seem to have gash like the others. I just assumed they were itching and was...

    Possible back injury?

Thanks for that info! My cousin was looking at her today and said "it doesn't look like she can raise her tail when she urinates". I think you may very well be right! The breed back thing may not be good buy I can keep the calf on her through the summer.
