The real problem is chicken. It’s perceived to be healthier. It gets a lot of help with all these various recipes that cover up the lack of taste. Can’t we compete with a nutritional turd like chicken nuggets?

Assuming that you're right the question becomes how to win new converts. It's really hard to convince people that the whole low fat craze was insincere garbage.

    Where the profit goes

The extra flexibility that I have comes in the form of extra pastures that are not part of the herd rotation. That let's me raise heifers, bulls, stockers or whatever without interfering with the main herd. I don't have enough cropland to raise corn or some other grain.

    Where the profit goes

I understand that a heifer that won't breed is an ideal candidate for the freezer but what about one you cull at weaning? A heifer that's obviously not worth breeding is likely not worth feeding either.

    Where the profit goes

You don't need to convince me that freezer beef is the best route for you and the end customer. Just make sure you have real flexibility built into your operation. These lead times are long and subject to market conditions. Would you have even quoted someone a price back in 2014? I no-quoted...

    Large bander recommendation?

I usually do a of banding bulls around the 100-150lb mark but sometimes one gets by me. I have the Wadsworth XL bander. What do I use when that's not big enough? What would you use on an 800lb bull for instance?

I can make money selling freezer beef

You usually need to coach a new customer when placing an order with the butcher. They need to understand what cuts are available. The butcher will usually lead them through the order process but most people aren’t realistic about what comes out of a cow.

I can make money selling freezer beef

One thing I’ve noticed is that younger customers don’t know how to cook and have never heard of cube steak and no idea what to do with a roast. Once they get half a cow in the freezer they have to learn.
