    Chance she will survive?

I pulled a cow out of a gully once and she had a broken back leg. I never knew if it broke when I pulled her out or if she broke it trying to cross the gully. I had to put her down. I wouldn't give much hope for your cow making it, especially if she was old.

Per acre land price in your area?

My Grandfather, born in 1896 in coastal SW Louisiana talked about some of the marshland in that area sold for "a bit" an acre- 12 1/2 cents. It may have been before his time and he heard the stories. He bought his place, high ground and marsh ground after WW2 for $40/acre. The old man he...

    Plastic feed trough fix

I never put a trough that close to a wire fence. Too easy to push into the fence and tear something up.

    Plastic feed trough fix

I've also patched torn places in the plastic liner with old mud flaps bolted down. I have several troughs over 10 years old.

    Plastic feed trough fix

I used old ratchet straps to replace missing cross-braces on some troughs. Used self-tapping screws to hold it down.

Mat in the bottom of a chute or no?

Keeping your cattle from being over prodded and excited coming in the chute can cut out a lot of their fighting in the chute. I have a Priefert with a metal floor and have little problems with cattle slipping and falling after catching their head and squeezing.

    Green bean nightmare!

I guess that would work better than the wood teepees.

    Green bean nightmare!

Can any of you describe your pole bean growing method, such as how tall, how many poles, how many plants around it? Thanks for any replies.

Good video of Budweiser Clydesdales in Knoxville

Thanks for posting the pictures. I had forgotten about it going bankrupt. I had just got married in 1984 and we went there but I didn't have a lot of extra money to take it all in. That gondola ride looks like it would have been fun.

Good video of Budweiser Clydesdales in Knoxville

How many of you were there for the World's Fair in 1982? I wasn't, but I was at the 84 Fair in New Orleans.

Bull sold for slaughter Monday-guess weight and price brought

Answer to question. Bull weighed 1845 pounds, brought $90/cwt. He was weighed at the sale after being hauled so there was some shrink from this picture. Thanks for the comments.

Bull sold for slaughter Monday-guess weight and price brought

Beefmaster. The vet took 2 samples and said he was no good and also 1 testicle was bigger than the other. He said I could test again in a month but I will go ahead and replace him with a young bull.

Bull sold for slaughter Monday-guess weight and price brought

I liked him pretty well. He never got very gentle but never tried to fight. He would pull his ears forward and give you a look like, "don't mess with me." He was 5 years old and failed his semen test.
