    Fence line weaning or not

Been there, done that. No more.... We bring them all into barn lots... preg check cows... move cows out to where ever we want them to be, will leave a couple cows with the calves, and leave them in the barn lot area. Cows will come right in for feed in bunk, calves follow... they are calmer...

    Daily Chuckle

I was afraid to admit I like some of the fruitcakes too... some are too dried out but there were a couple of brands that I liked... 🫣

    Bull selection!

I agree... More reasonable than I would have expected. Bulls like that would bring that, and then some, easily, at the last few bull sales I have seen.

    Replacement Heifers

Can't pick a favorite of the heifers except maybe 310, 312, 316, 320.... Ha ha... They are all nice. I liked your Uncle Tony bull and his daughters and really like your General bull.... the length and balance is really superb.

My little 2 wd ford ranger has the same problem with it not starting sometimes when the engine is warm. I have 3 of the plug in ones to stick in the fuse box... and switch them out if one won't start it, another usually will... couldn't figure out why it started fine, drove it, did some stops...

    Lime Question

Poultry litter is usually always high in Phosphorous... adds organic matter also... Might be an option for the high PH, low Phos field. Nitrogen will not do any good now with the end of the growing season... wasted money.

I'd give him a home too, with a set of horns like that... he'd sure be impressive out there where the coyotes are the problem... he could reach them easy and stick them sideways....

Putting weight back on thin cows

Agree, not as thin as I thought they might be... getting bellies full of good hay, the worming, and starting a little supplemental feed will do them wonders.

Where do I go From Here?

@GoWyo anything is possible. But we go check here twice a week, and son has been in there 3 times in the 8-9 days, because the float on the one water trough won't shut off all the time and he has changed out parts and finally put in a whole new kit... The one calf he found the tag for is one...

Where do I go From Here?

I would except we were getting ready to move them to this more opened field anyway in anticipation of them coming home within a couple weeks. Still might suggest it to son.... her calf is ready to wean and she should be bred back...

I understand that there are electronics in anything from 80's onward... but they are not near as complicated or difficult to work on as the "newer/better/more improved" technology. My 76 little ford 4x4 ranger might survive all that electronic breakdown... trying to find a new distributor for...

Where do I go From Here?

We just found 2 calves out to a pasture that were killed... tracks and all show probably a pack of coyotes... have had coyote problems out here in the past... killed within the last week... eaten down to the bones except the legs... son found one eartag... other one no ears, nothing... just...

Does she have a set of horns like that? My longhorn has some that come out and curve up, nice set, but not near as impressive as those are... Are you going to eat him and keep the head/horns?

    Lime Question

Depends on if you need more magnesium in your soil... low mag tests will have the land benefitting more from Dolomite lime with the increased mag levels. More than 2-3 ton to the acre is not going to "fix it" any faster... more will only increase the cost with little benefit shown. especially...

Once they get the console screen figured out on the Explorer, it will get sold and I do not intend to have another vehicle with all these program-able "extras". I will die with my nice old subarus and 1980's and 1990's trucks. I have no intention to spend that kind of money on a vehicle that...

How many more are you still looking for? cows/calves or bulls??

Agree that there are cases where limiting the speeds could be of benefit... but I was definitely at a disadvantage and it kinda scared me to not be able to get the vehicle to get out of the way of the truck behind me...

Putting weight back on thin cows

The biggest thing is to get them full up on some decent hay, so their rumens' are in good working order.. the worming sure will not hurt them either... I would not grain them much for at least a week to give them a chance to get used to your hay and your water... and to make sure that the worms...
