Moss on an older apple tree

I've had the displeasure of meeting J Baker. He's a class A jerk. IMHO. Yes you could mix up a bleach solution to kill moss and lichen on your trees, but there isn't any good reason to kill it. In fact if you use too much and it soaks into the soil, it's possible to do more damage to your tree...

What would cause two cows to both have their eyes bulging. No other symptoms.

Moss on an older apple tree

Lichen doesn't harm the tree or other plants in any way at all. It is something that can't survive in polluted air at all. Won't grow in most cities. It will grow right on rocks and boulders too. It is a sign of good country air. Everyone should be lucky enough to have it on their trees. Now if...

    cows eating acorn

You'll find just as much tannic acid in red oaks as you will in pin oaks. Maybe more since reds have bigger acorns than pins. In fact all oaks are classed as either red or white based on whether the lobes on the leaves are pointed or rounded. Even though there is an actual red oak (Quercus...

    where's the profit??

Yes I'm gonna start this spring. I think I have many questions but I do appreciate the help from everyone. While I could go for inexpensive crossbred animals, which are great, I was thinking of spending the xtra up front for purebred, for many reasons. Right now we buy half a steer and I'd like...

    where's the profit??

Ok you buy a bull or steer. $$$$ you pay for feed and medical $$$$ you pay to have it butchered $$$$ This isn't including housing, fencing, labor, etc How much does it cost to have an animal butchered? Is it by the pound? How do you know that the butcher is charging you for the correct weight?

    new pasture

What I have heard is that you can put 2 Dexter's on an acre of pasture as they weigh less and do better at converting feed that other cattle won't touch. Where we live in upstate NY there isn't much problem growing grass or anything else. Nobody irrigates lawns or crops. We get alot of rain. Its...

    Clover and Bloat

Another tip I've heard is to feed them hay, (Dry matter) first before putting them out on clover and not to let them graze clover if is wet from dew or rain.

    new pasture

I have an acre of grass that I want to pasture an animal on next year. How should I go about preparing it ? It is definitely gonna need lime since there are many trees growing there and have wild strawberries, and mosses growing. Gonna take down some of the white pines to let in more sun. Can I...
