    Who is feeding chicken ****?

What nutritional needs is the chicken litter meant to meet? I have heard of this but know nothing about it. I tend to agree with OP that at least at face value it is probably not the best PR for the beef industry. Is there a public misconception around this?

    Hereford bull

As long as your granddaughter is happy, it sounds like it will be mission accomplished.

    Wagyu X Calves

https://academic.oup.com/tas/article/3/4/1475/5529278?login=false study by Ohio State University, pretty interesting. They fed out purebred jersey, jersey cross w/Angus, SimAngus, and Red Wagyu. The results were not all what i would have guessed. The Wagyu had the best feed efficiency (on a live...

    Wagyu X Calves

The sacrificing of muscling for marbling is certainly something to consider, especially since i sell a fair amount of retail cuts so i very much care about the yield. Do you know what kinds of yields you get from straight jersey? I imagine the cross might be slightly better but maybe not.

    Wagyu X Calves

Yeah I hear ya. I wouldnt be interested in owning any wagyu or jersey breeding cows i dont think.

    Wagyu X Calves

Ha, i figured there was about a 50/50 chance you were serious. I was serious though, here's why: In my area there are several jersey dairies that essentially give away their bull calves. I would think at least one of them could be convinced to AI to a wagyu bull if they would get something for...

    Wagyu X Calves

Could you please elaborate? I'm considering trying a few of these crosses. Wondering what kinds of results one might expect.

    Mineral tubs

I have seen some pretty serious symptoms of copper deficiency here in NW Washington as well. Had a steer that was unable to stand up, makes them almost lame somehow, i think at that point we may have given it a shot of copper but it turned around amazingly fast. Then the the red/rough hair coat...

    Lime Question

Cows have been on the pack for awhile now and so far so good, but maybe different type of lime or not as concentrated? If I end up having problems I do like the idea of top dressing lime on the spreader while spreading, I'll definitely keep that in mind.

    Freeze miser experience?

I have used them in 3-4 places for a few years. I like them, they do what they are supposed to, however... do not let them freeze with water in them but no running water (like anything else i suppose). I've broken a couple by turning off the water source for one reason or another and the freeze...

    Lime Question

I could start a new thread if need be but I also have a lime question. Since the spreading is the expensive part where im at as well, and i was able to get one ton sacks for pretty cheap, I thought id mix in 5-10 tons in my bed pack this winter, and then when i spread manure in the spring id...

    Should have stayed home today!

When I was in college, my friend and roommate and I bought an old sausage sow for $20 and butchered and ate it for 6 months. The next year he went up to the auction without me to try and do the same thing. He calls in the afternoon and said all the hogs went for over $100 so he didn't do it...

    Sold 4 yesterday.

Watching group after group of ~1000 lbs steers sell between $2.25-$2.40 at this auction in SD right now. I missed getting a picture but one group averaged over $2,400.
