Thanks. All good coments and points. As soon as I read my post I realized the best answer was cash. I let it be though and wanted to see how many post it took before someone mentioned cash. Lol it took only one post. So.... Let's go into this a little futher... Let's say you already had a place...
What's the easiest way to buy land in Texas? The best way to get it done right and pay as little as possible to someone else via from the buyer or seller.
I'm just a rookie, but I have been keeping track of my expenses very closely. So far I'm at $72 per head for the year. $72/63 days=$1.14 per day. That does include half my lease payment for the year so it is a little off. Also gas was not figured in yet, but I live very close to my lease land.
If I have room for about 20 more head of cattle of my lease. What are some good ideas for liquid cattle that you might of experienced? I want to do something this spring as it looks like I'm going to have the room for it. Novatech made a good point on another topc I posted and I would like to go...
It was not mowed last year due to the lack of rain. This year there is too much rain. Go figure. So, there is already some tall dead weeds in the field. My fear is that it is going to keep some of the good grass from coming up. Could I cut/clip them before things start to green or is that going...
I have 500 acres to mow. I also posted a question on the grasses topic (please check that question out as well).
I have a ten year lease, but no tractor as of now. I think I have a 70 hp tractor to use with a 15' cutter for free, plus the diesel fuel and parts if anything was to break while I...
I'm south of Houston and it has been a long hard winter down here for us (In terms of Texas). In my lease agreement, given there has been enough rain, I have to mow my 500 acres once a year. How would you go about mowing your 500 acre lease land? It is striaght grassland with just a couple trees...
thanks for the responses. :D
To be a little more clear. From the start I really didn't feel it would make a difference putting a show bull on my herd or a bigger commercial bull. Here is the story of what got my mind thinking...
I bought the herd from an older man in his late 70's. He had a...
There are probably a lot of variables here and I lot of different ways to look at it... but...
If you took a herd of good cows that have been on good commercial bulls and put then on show type breeding bulls (lets just say you already had the bulls avaiable and there was no addiontal cost here)...
I sold the bull calve for $100 to a nice guy earlier today. The calf is really a brangus w a very small mix of jersey but I wanted to make clear that the calve had some jersey just to not be acussed of misleading someone. I think I could have done the powder mix trick but it worked out with the...
need advice- selling a 1 month old calve
I lost a cow a couple of days ago and her calve is about 30 days old. After reading several previous post about bottle feeding I think it is best for me to cut my losses and sell the calve to someone who has the means/time to take care of the calve. I...
