    Cattle Teets

One of my heifers just dropped a calf. One of her teets is alot larger and taut and shiny compared to the others. Could this be some kind of infection perhaps? Should I be concerned about it and/or do anything about it? The calf seems to be at least trying to nurse well on the other teets. I...

    AI

Hey sorry I have my times messed up. The vet showed up and we got them done at 58 hours after the last shot.

    AI

Hi all...I am having my cows AI'd. They had the hormone shots on the times the vet said to give them, then 30 hours after the last shot he was supposed to come and inseminate them. Well evidentally he got tied up, and now it is 34 hours since the last shot and he still isn't here. Supposedly he...

Heifers dropped and now have sagging stomach

Just wanted to update you all. The areas seem to be shrinking a bit now, so I am thinking they were what you described as the vein. The cow with the larger area just had her milk come in. She never did have a very big milk bag. The one with the fist sized area is the one with huge milk bags and...

Heifers dropped and now have sagging stomach

Beefy, I have black angus also. The area you have circled in red is where (of course) my cattle have the areas hanging. I didn't notice a flap before on them. Never really paid much attention though.I'm supposing I should have the vet come and look at them. This board and all of you have been...

Heifers dropped and now have sagging stomach

It seems to be in the area where the umbilical cord would have been. These are the momma cows.

Heifers dropped and now have sagging stomach

My heifers both dropped calves last week, and today I have noticed that one of the heifers has about a fist sized area hanging from her stomach, and the other heifer has about half of her stomach area hanging down. Is this a hernia? The uterus hanging that will eventually tighten up? Is this...

    New Calves

Thanks for the replies. I tried to give the calf a bottle yesterday but she didn't seem too interested. She still has a lot of pep, so I'm assuming she must be getting some milk. I'm still keeping a close eye on her.

    New Calves

They are black angus cattle. Her teets look shriveled and not very large at all compared to the other cow. Very little sac hanging down. I'd say the teets are not much larger than before. I don't think there is a way I can trap the cow to try milking her. I'll have to see if I can think of some...

    New Calves

Hi all, just had 2 heifers drop. About 4-6 weeks late for the weather here in Illinois. I have a couple of questions. One of the heifers didn't develop much of a milk sac. I'm not sure if the little one is getting enough milk or not. She hops from teet to teet frequently, and I don't see any...

    Donkey attack

Thanks for all the replies. I seperated my jack from the others and is he pissed. He was best buds with our horse. I listed him for sale in the paper and someone is going to come and look at him today. I am sure companionship was not the issue. I believe their temperament never stays the same...

    Donkey attack

Whats funny is the heifers were rubbing noses with the donkey and trying to mount him and he was jumping on their necks. I think maybe my donkey is confused and thinks he is a bull.

    Donkey attack

My donkey attacked my calf yesterday and almost killed it!! I never would have thought about that happening. It had been in the same field as the donkey for about 4 months with no problem. I think my heifers are in heat. Could this have anything to do with it? The donkey is a male.
