    Vaccinating feeder cattle…?

Hit them with an 8-way for the Clostridials. Titanium 5, (or the like) + Haemophilus/Pasturella for the respritories. Worm them. If they come out of an pasture with snails in the water, use a wormer that kills fluke. And I give mine a shot of multi-min.

    Can't find Ivomec injectable.

There is a shortage if ivomec plus, and generic equivalents. I have tried Valley Vet, and Amazon as well as local places. Does anyone have another source I can try. I need to have a wormer that works on fluke, but don't want to use a a drench if I can avoid it. thanks

    Olympics

Other than nationalistic pride, I have no reason to watch. I don't ski, hate skating, and don't have a clue about hockey. Some of the cross country skying/shooting events are interesting but with the medias' hatred of guns they aren't going to show much of them.

    Breed Selection/Starting up

If you are looking at hereford angus offspring I would look at putting a hereford bull on some good angus cows. It is a lot easier to find good angus cows that good hereford cows.

    ?? Irrigation pumps -- re-builders/sellers

You might look into a variable frequency drive (VFD). It allows you to set the desired water pressure you want, and the system will maintain that pressure by speeding up or slowing down the pump. If you shut everything off the system goes to sleep. They are expensive but your power company may...

High cattle prices affecting hay pricing

We are in a different world here in northeastern California. We put up the small bales, (3 tie). Mostly pure orchard grass, some alfalfa/orchard mix for the SoCal horse market. A 100 pound bale is selling for $15. By the time the trucker, the broker, and the feed store puts their markup on, it...

Setting incoming calves up for success

Everything I keep as a weaner is a replacement heifers. Mine get Titanium 5 H+P, 8 way, Multi-min, Valbazin wormer, and a pour-on. We also freeze brand at weaning. I would avoid implanting any heifers I was going to keep as a herd replacement. Steers and heifers I was going to sell would most...

I shouldn't have mixed feelings about the ducks uni choice

Alan, I think Nike is getting really close to their "Jump the Shark moment". Sooner or later, alumni like your self is going to get pissed at Uncle Phil using your team as his personal barbie dolls.

Looking to sell antique farm equipment

My grandmother has been placed in a long term care facility and my family is looking to sell their almost 100 year old ranch and all belongings. All farm equipment, ranching supplies, grain mill materials, etc., have all been in barns or the old grain mill and there is no weathering on any...

geting cow to accept new calf

http://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html ... &gas=onomo We use this product, Onomo. You wet the calf's hair down on the neck and shoulders and then work it into the hair. It has an amonia smell that the cows like. The mother licks it off the calf, and gets her smell all over the calf. You will...

Does anyone have a good source to get a replacement cork for a seman tank? Are most corks a standard size or do I need to go to the manufacturer?

    Branding questions

If you are only branding cows I would go with a 3 or 4 inch iron. If you want to brand calves also buy a 2 inch iron. Here in the west, there are lots of cows with 2 and 3 irons on them.
