    A case of owner ignorance

Some people shouldn't be allowed to take care of themselves, let alone any type of animal. It really doesnt take much to figure out what to feed and how to properly care for an animal. Even the basics and this poor little guy would have been better off. Good for you for taking care of him, there...

    Vaginal Prolapse

We had this happen with some Charolais cows some years ago. They were all somewhat related, went back to some Highrise relation. We ended up getting rid of them all. The bad thing about it was they were some of the nicer animals we had at the time, just to much trouble. The sugar is used for...

how popular or unpopular is the color dun?

I would rather have buckskin myself. There are so many different color variations of dun. I like some more than others. I like the ones with the bars on the legs and the dark color over the withers. I don't really care for the red dun color. Just my opinion.

What's The Oddest Thing Your Pony Eats?

I had a pony when I was growing up that would take anything from you to eat. We even gave him a handfull of gravel. He took a few nibbles out of it. My most favorite story with "Lucky" was when my brother was riding and I took a box of gingersnaps and ran across the yard as fast as I could. My...

    Peppy San Badger

If you ever get a chance read about Mr San Peppy in the Quarterhorse Legends books. Really great reading and will tie in with allot of what has been said but give you a really good idea.

    critique this heifer

Beautiful heifer. It doesnt even matter what breed she is when she's so good looking! Wouldnt it be nice if everyone had a whole herd of them kind! Congratulations on such a nice female, your doing something right!

What is the going rate for shoeing in your area?

the farrier we use charges $90 for shoeing now and $20-25 to trim but we usually set up a whole day when he comes so we get a good sized break on the price.

    Stallions

I have to agree here. Also if your not experienced with stallions, I wouldn't bother. Some people think it's cool to ride a stallion, but they don't realize the problems they could have without the experience.

    Question about height

I have personally seen this happen with a person we know from around our area. He had wonderful bloodlines but really didnt take care of his animals. If they ever had a chance it would be only if they were bought as babies. Many of his mares would only be 13 hands even at 4 years of age. Many...

    Saler x Angus cows

This is a very sound group of cows to have. It's a very nice cross; we have had a few of these in the years past. As far as birth weights go we had a few Charolais bulls that had larger calves. The good thing is the Salers cows are famous for a larger pelvic area and can have these larger calves...

    Hereford Bull Photos

I really like bull one. He is very nice. I'm not a big fan of Herfords either but would use him if given the chance! NICE animals, you should be proud!

    GRAVE YARD

For all that matters, just imagine the people that passed away and didnt have a marker. They could be anywhere along the trail. That to me is so intresting. There are stories where I live aobut a family that was passing through and an infant died for some reason and since it was summer time they...

What horse deservse to be a Mare?

I will second this...If you have a ridgerunner of a mare, they will more than likely pass this on to their colts. How many of you that also raise cattle would keep a heifer as a replacement out of a cow that runs away every time you come near. Or for that matter, doesnt milk properly? There's no...

    Overweight mare?

Of course I didnt do this overnight either. Up here we don't ride in the winter, so each spring I would start this as a gradual workout and stop increasing when we reached this peak and only maintain!

Does Anyone Us a Water Sistern/Settlement Tank

Boy we can't wait until we can get some rural water (public) in our area. We have all signed up for wanting it everywhere around us. It's going to cost us around $45-50 per month but it's a relief to not have to worry about the quality of the water and headache of having a well. We'll still keep...
