    Honey Locust Trees

they are reason I have gallons of slime for my utv/tractor tires and puncture repair plugs all over the place. Filling up a tire every few days with the compressor is just normal now :/

Why did no one tell me?!...:)

hmm.. it's possible. I've got one heifer calf that nurses both her dam and one other that lets her. I'll watch for this.

Why did no one tell me?!...:)

So maybe I guesstimate length the same way I estimate lbs on a bass, but here’s the pic

Good luck! I'm in my 5th year after starting from scratch and enjoying (almost) every new experience! This forum is great for answering questions.

Why did no one tell me?!...:)

No one told me bulls have weird scrotum teats! Joined up here with no experience at all with cattle and super appreciative of all the help I've received from this forum over the years. I rent a bull every summer and for the first time, noticed these 5-inch long nozzle-like things coming out...

    Drought plan

I'm much more carefully rotating with portable electric fencing. got about 6 weeks before I'm back to paddocks last grazed April 10. but johnsongrass....making me nervous as I can't test every little stand. I usually don't supplement in the summers, but wondering if setting out protein tubs...

How long from slaughter to fridge?

Thanks for the replies. My thought was that after butchering, let it age as individual pieces in a refrigerator for 10-14 days then freeze. I’ve read you can freeze first, and then age the steaks /roasts after thawing?…but that’s the internet, and I don’t know what the research says. I look...

How long from slaughter to fridge?

This is a pretty niche question :) Looking at hiring an on-farm processing outfit this next year and didn't know how long is a safe length of time from processing to getting it cooled a big enough fridge. My current fridge space is 2 hours from our farm...is this a deal breaker?

    Pond cleaning fiasco

"Didn't know it was a road"...you mean people just put gates in the middle of their pastures?

    fertilizing a small pasture

Don't recommend mowing/brush hogging mesquite (I learned the hard way). It'll sprout 5 new trunks and makes basal spraying them later on a pain. +1 for Remedy for the mesquite. And good thread. I have a very similar situation minus the low pH just across the river.

Figuring out how to work bulls?

My working pens are pretty lame. Portable panels reinforced with some wooden posts at the alley and an old priefert head gate on some railroad ties. But I've managed to make it work for my few cattle and they are trained to move through it pretty efficiently. But I absolutely can't imagine a...

    no hayfield experience-advice?

My much older neighbor has a 20 acre hayfield (south-central oklahoma) that he doesn't want to mess with anymore. Common and improved bermuda. No weeds. He said he just wants it kept up and looking nice, and I can keep whatever I get off it as long as I keep the weeds out. I have zero...

    crossbred bull question

Very interesting point of view. I align with her philosophically for sure.
