    fly tagging

    Eye problem

Well, It seems they have pinkeye. Only symptoms were watering, clouded eyes. The young lady vet that came to the house told us it looked like an injury, though I was sceptical as several cows were affected. We talked to a more experienced vet,and he said pinkeye. Several more cows starting...

Hi everyone, I've got a black baldy cow with one severely clouded eye ,and the other one starting to cloud. I suspected pink eye. Our vet came out and gave her an antibiotic injection, and sprayed an antibiotic in her eyes. The vet said it looked like an injury to the one eye and not pinkeye...

    problems stretching fence

Lucky I use oak 2x4 's bolted tyogether. If you are stretching 200 feet or more I usually nail all the wires to a line post at least every 100 ft, then strech it a bit more.

Raising a Calf for the freezer for yourself

cattlegirl, We feed our angus steers sweet feed for at least 2 months prior to butchering, and give him free choice hay. We have the butcher age him for 14 days. It's some of the best beef we've ever ate. You will get differing opinions, but we don't cut, but band our bulls at about 2 weeks...

    steer meat

One of the reasons i'm asking is that I have heard several negative comments about the processor, after we had already delivered the steer. I wanted to know what a reasonable wt. I could expect if they treat us right. Also, we have a medium size freezer, about 15 cubic ft.. i'm hoping we have...

    steer meat

Hi everyone, We took a 1,000 lb. angus steer to the processor, several weeks ago. I am guesstimating that we should get about 350 lb. of packaged meat to take home. What would be the minimum, and average you should expect for a steer this size? THANKS

    choosing a bull

I'm looking for a replacement bull as we sold our angus sire. I know a little about bulls, but could use some advice. I figured on getting a purebred , yearling black angus ,but he doesn't have to be registered. What do you look for to determine if the bull will make a good herd sire ? THANKS
