    What’s everyone using for minerals.

I put iodized salt out - free choice. Also free choice minerals. And injectable Multimin twice a year. I’m in north central Washington so I feed alfalfa during the winter months. Also wheat straw.

    Blue Albion calf

I would get some Multimin which has selinium plus all the minerals she needs. She is getting plenty of milk it sounds like.

    Calf needs colostrum

T Thank you! The product we had thickened so fast we could use it. Usually they get that first milk. This was an emergency c-section. Cow was not doing well. Wasn’t in labor. Calf has a rough road ahead I fear. But we’ll do what we can.

    MultiMin 90

We use Multimin twice a year. On cows and calves. Also the bulls. Plus put out free choice minerals. I leased a pasture to a guy. We put out minerals for his cattle and they demolished minerals within 24 hours 🤷🏼‍♀️ My cattle use them but aren’t starved for them. The guy brought some special...

I think it’s an inbreeding problem

I think you know Multimin isn’t a vaccine. It is a great way to help your herd with minerals and trace minerals. In turn to help the health of your cow/calf pairs and herd bulls. We are very impressed with what we have see it do for us. Jmo

I think it’s an inbreeding problem

When that happens in this area - north central Washington - its either a poisonous weed that has shown up or they consumed pine needles. But you’ve got a lot of good advice from others here.

    Stupid heifer prolapsed

What kind of condition are your cows in? Are they out on pasture most of the year? We run cattle out in the hills until after the wheat is harvested. They run on the stubble up until snow flies. Then in December they are on a dry lot and fed twenty pounds of hay and straw until they calve...

    Gre Great idea!!!!

    Too Mineral or not...

We always put out bags of loose minerals. They will consume what they need. And always have salt blocks out. I offer them iodized blocks and sulfur blocks. Again they’ll pick what they need. There’s no way that they can consume what they require grime a trace mineral salt block. Jmo 👍🏼😊

    Too Mineral or not...

Very important to offer free choice minerals. They will only consume what they need. The first time you put minerals out they are apt to consume a lot! 😊 but keep them in front of them and the consumption will slow down after their systems balance out.

I want to learn more about nutrition

I feel the best way to learn about nutrition in your herd is to talk to the bigger/respected ranchers in your area. In my part of the country we offer free choice minerals and also iodized salt. In the late fall we put out protein tubs. We also inject Multimin twice a year. January and May...
