    Lightning strikes 18 cattle dead

I assume every farmer at some point in time has sought out grants during hard times. during drought, hay supplementation grants are not uncommon in these parts, and are strictly due to weather, therefore maybe theres something out there for the farmer that loses 25% of his herd due to lightning...

is there any difference in the taste of the two?? id hate to send a bottle fed steer to the butcher when i have steers raised "naturally" that i could take off that may taste better.

1100 lb. steer vs. 1400 lb. bull

not to change the subject.. but does the meat from a bottle fed steer taste better than a steer raised by its "natural" mother?? i have an angus steer raising by bottle with good genetics, but ive never heard any information on the subject of CARCASS QUALITY of bottle fed calves. give me...

    Preconditioned steers forecast

so if it is not benefical to spend the time and money on pre-con unless you have several head to take off... are you saying that i wont see the profit im looking for by just taking off our 9 bulls?

    Preconditioned steers forecast

i absolutly agree with u kenny, but thats why i said this was the forecast and not the current trend. typically i stay in the 6w range and i have yet to sell a steer at that weight for over $1.15. if 6wts could get to 1.20 id be thrilled. let alone 9 or 1000's.

    Bottle fed calves

havent visited the website in a while, so the update is past due. i had to put down the calf. front leg joint was swelling and turned hard. had him on anit-biotics for 3 weeks then on steroids for 1 week, with minimal improvment. still weak and lame. only thing i can think of was that the navel...
