    First cutting done

I bragged on one of our fields on Facebook, but we definitely got a better yield on the first 20 acres than normal. Normally, we'd get around 80 4x6 bales. This year, we decided to use an inline wrapper. Wheat hay (yes fertilized), 4x4 bales, and it made 252 bales. Figuring the volume, that...

If he is feeding 50lbs to 9 head each day, that is just under 5lbs/hd/day. Doesn't seem overkill to me.

Just wishing everybody a good season.

Been rough here, and not just on the farm. Meeting with an outfit today about possibly purchasing our business that has been in the family for 90 years. I'm not loving it, but I think it is time. Hopefully, I will be able to get into a new venture that has been on my mind for probably 15 years.

Thank you. She's already feeling much better. I do hope next year is less eventful.

    ET recipient question

Old Gert Question (Macon--you might be able to weigh in)

Maybe. Would like to see what kind of cow the dam is. I'd like to improve milk and marbling a bit. Of course, he is a bull produced 45 years ago, and looks like no calves have been registered of his in 30 years.

    Bull advice

How low are you wanting? 65-70, 75-80? Most of our heifers can handle an 80lb calf no problem.

I read about every day. Only post occasionally as some of my thoughts had already been mentioned. No need to be redundant.
