Lets see your oldest piece of equipment that is still in use

Tractor is a ‘51, the no. 5 mower I’m not sure but I’m guessing it’s somewhere around the same

Anybody found a "best way" or tool/machine design to remove frozen Net Wrap from Round bales?

Probably wouldn’t work for people feeding large quantities but a guy told me to just put a bale in your heated shop for a couple hours before feeding. Can’t believe I never though of it. This year we had a inch or so of rain freezing rain in December immediately preceding 20” of snow. Net wrap...

    Pasture water option...opinions wanted

You can pressurize the solar water system with a pressure tank just like a regular pump. The alternative is to run a float switch wire from the pump to each tank, which will shut the pump off when the tank is full. The float switch wire isn’t terribly expensive but the location of the pit...

Anyone got a Polaris 570 Fullsize ranger?

Either SuperATV or Everything Polaris Ranger, I can’t remember which one

Anyone got a Polaris 570 Fullsize ranger?

I have a 2021 full size 570 with back windshield. The one I have isn’t glass, it’s plastic or plexiglass. I don’t have any complaints with it, other than it’s fairly hard to clean the inside due to the headrests. I’m honestly not sure how worthwhile it is, I installed it right when I bought the...

    Tedder talk.

Yep it unfolds to roughly 16 feet wide. These units were built in the 1970’s in Vermont. Tedders are used almost 100% of the time around here. I do a very small amount of grass hay and have borrowed a reel type Tedder in the past, but I thought this would be handy to have.

    Tedder talk.

All this Tedder talk got me excited so I went out and picked up this gem. G.H. Grimm Super 16. Needs a belt but other than that should work.

    What is the job worth?

Whether or not it’s worth it is a pretty individualized question, but 60 checks at 5 hours each is 300 hours (I realize that is kinda a minimum and it could be lots more than that...) and that is in the $36 / hr range U.S. I cant see how that is starvation wage. Seems like a pretty good hourly...

    Feedlot fencing

I know nothing about feeding calves or the infrastructure needed, but would freestanding pipe/sucker rod panels be worth a look? Last I checked they could be got at about $300 per panel (that is not a bulk price) putting them at $12.50 per foot. Easy to reconfigure as needed and when you get out...

    Water Question for the North

The design of the Cobett is kinda unique in that the heat tube that is transferring ground source heat (warmer air from 6-10’ underground) is actually part of the waterer housing itself, so the heat tube goes up and around the water bowl. So the only part of the water that is exposed to ambient...

    Block heaters on tractor

I have an international utility tractor with a 1500w tank heater that I plug in for 30 min to 2 hours depending on temps. Temps down to zero or slightly below it takes a good 1.5-2 hours to get warmed up enough where it will fire up quickly without ether. When it gets -10 or lower I try to plan...
