Wyoming Sheep Rancher Says Coyotes Guard His Flock, As Does Eagle-Stomping Ewe

I know some coyotes are calf killers, some aren't...but to call any coyote a "guard coyote" is a stretch. It gives the people who think we should never kill a coyote, a fox, or wolf ammo that they don't need. And he fired his hired hand on the spot for killing a coyote that was next to a dead...

    Chutes

Pearson https://pearsonlivestockequipment.com/. A friend of mine bought the Arrowquip. It's nice, but I wouldn't trade him.

    Snooze button

My wife used to set the clock ahead about 10 minutes. She thought it helped her to be on time..... it didn't. I don't need an alarm, but my kids make fun of my evening sleep pattern. One of them started talking about my "pre-bedtime nap" that I take. It gave all the late risers in my house a...

    Battery Powered Chainsaw

My Dad (80 years old) had a Stihl. He had trouble starting the gas saws and this thing was nice and light. I think it had a 14" bar and he would use it cutting up slab wood at his sawmill. I laughed at it until I used it, then I bought one. I have no personal experience with the Milwaukee...

    Judging herd fertility Health

There's always a lot of conversation about calving "in sync", but not about breeding in sync. I start calving a little later than most around me. I like calves starting in mid March and ending by early May. I'll fool around with AI for a week or 2 at the front end, then the bulls get 45 days...

    Fuel tank repair

I managed to jab a T-post through mine. I tried the epoxy that says it will work on poly fuel tanks and it held for about a month. Someone told me to go to a place in Greencastle PA that would fix it. I dropped it off and they did it right away, cost $80. Not sure where in VA you are...

    Tehema Tahoe

I had 8 Tahoe heifers and 1 bull calf this spring. They all look really nice. I always reserve judgement until I see what kind of cows they become.

    Any Update on Charlo

I've never used Homer, but I did use OCC No Problems, I'm pretty sure he was a full brother to Homer. I used him mostly on heifers, but one year I used him on the older cows and saved about 10 daughters. They are now 5 years old and have become some of my best cows. They are small (1000-1100...

    Meat Cutting Mess ?

I used to be able to get an appointment within 6-8 weeks, when Covid started it quickly became 6-8 months. The most popular places are a year out. Folks started hoarding kill dates like toilet paper. A local place that had been closed for a couple of years has just opened under new...

    Stockpile ? for Fescue Fans

When the cows see me, they always think they need to move to the next paddock. She didn’t make a very good case for needing to move.

    covid

Hi everyone, I don't post much, but I thought I would jump on and give my up close and personal covid experience, maybe it will help someone else. I think I'm like most of you are, not really all that worried about it. I wear a mask where I have to and live life. I'm 46, great shape (I...

    Town Creek Brangus Sale

They picked up where Cow Creek Ranch left off when Joe Reznicek died. A good portion of the that herd went to Town Creek, and they still do the bred heifer sale with those same consignors. Good cattle, great people. If I didn't get docked for ear up here I'd still be a customer.

    Cow Creek Sale today

Aliceville, AL. Commercial heifers were bred to and sired by Cow Creek bulls, bulls were Brangus and Ultrablack, with a few angus mixed in I think.
