    TD95 New Holland Tractor

Good luck to you on the new motor. How old is this tractor?? One thing I've noticed since this whole Tier 2 and Tier 3 emissions regulations have come out on diesels, is that NOBODY really knows how to build a d@mn diesel engine anymore!!! I drive a schoolbus here and I can tell you from...

    mowing hay

Yeah I'd LOVE to have one of those but at $2650-$3250 that's a lot of money. I may just build my own one day-- after all it's just basically a beefy offset A-frame with a couple HD wheel spindles, hubs, and tires on it. Fill the thing with concrete and should be as good as any manufactured one...

    24D and red clover.

IIRC Tordon + 2,4 D = Grazon P+D. I think the active ingredients are the same, not sure about the percentages though... OL JR :)

    Turn Out on Rye

Is that one looking straight at you squirrelly?? Sure looks inquisitive-- either really smart or really skiddish... Least that's been my experience. If his tail was up I'd know for sure! Last one I had that looked at me like that with those ears perked up like that, if you even breathed wrong...

    Another stumped..Part II

Yep... culling's the best cure for a fence jumper... won't keep them around because they'll teach the whole herd to do it... And once they learn how ain't nothing that'll keep em in.... JMHO! OL JR :)

    Eating weeds

Reminds me of something my brother said to me when we were working on some equipment in the farm shop a few weeks back. During a boring moment while I was working on something and he was just standing around he read the back of the can of brake cleaner we use to spray off gunk that "this...

    New Pasture Seeding info

No prob... surprised to hear that yall are growing bermuda in S. Indiana. Whereabouts?? My wife is from N. In. up near Warsaw, but her mom's family is all down near Spencer, between Bloomington and Terre Haute. Where are yall at?? We're down in TX just west of Houston. Planning on heading up...

    Utility Vehicle???

I'll agree with you there 100%. I have a $600 EZ-GO Marathon golf cart with a steel bed and it will do anything an $8,000-$10,000 Mule will do. I fenced the whole place using that thing, rolled out the barbwire, tied off to the posts, hauled concrete for the corners, everything. Used the...

    Pasture Insurance

Well I haven't had the pasture insurance and don't plan to, but I have had some experience with crop insurance and from my point of view it's not worth the paper it's written on. First year we had crop insurance on our cotton (when it became mandatory to either have buyup insurance or CAT...

    New Pasture Seeding info

In my post above I mentioned that hybrid bermudas are sterile; they do not produce viable seed (actually a TINY percentage of the seed IS viable, but it is such a small amount that you would have to plant probably well over a hundred pounds to the acre to establish any kind of stand from seed...

    New Pasture Seeding info

No don't plant anything with it, and unless it's thicker than hair on a dog's back I wouldn't plant any ryegrass on it the fall after planting it either. Bermudagrass seed is very small and very expensive. Because it's a small seed it doesn't need any competition coming up, especially from...

    Kubota tractor parts?

As far as parts are concerned here's what my experience has been, FWIW. We have Ford/New Holland tractors (HAD 5200, 6600, Jubilee, 8N HAVE CURRENTLY (2) 5610S and (1) 2310) and they are REALLY good tractors. One 5610S has Ford stickers on it, the newer one has New Holland stickers on it...

    Round Balers

With respect to farmerjohn's post above, I wouldn't have believed it either until I saw it. I was talking to a Vermeer dealer (that I know and he is a VERY knowledgeable farm boy who's baled a LOT of hay and really knows his stuff) at the Victoria farm show and I was commenting on some bales I...

    Crude oil?

My Dad ran that in his 77 Ford pickup, ran great! I sure wouldn't put it in a modern fuel injected pollution controlled vehicle though... could cause a TON of problems from plugged or burned injectors, valves, EGR, catalytic converters, O2 sensors, etc. The modern stuff is a LOT more picky on...

    TD95 New Holland Tractor

Yeah, I've heard that New Hollands have been on a downward spiral for a good while... Last tractor I bought was a 5610S in 2000. Been a real good tractor so far, as long as the stupid electric fuel shutoff relay works. I've roasted about 3 or 4 so far... I have an identical 5610S we bought...
