Thanks for your input, I bought a group of 20 registered cows from Florida and they were all bred to the same bull. Im not happy with one calf off that cross either. He was a registered brangus bull but his calves stink, not one was worthy of keeping as a replacement or a bull to grow out and...
Thanks bud, thats what I really feel like it has been too. My vet has told me that cows have not gotten bred very good this year either due to the heat we had. He said he has checked 3,000 head in last month and 45% were open.
Yeah Im getting ready to preg check soon, and Im def gonna be culling some of the cows who raised the calves who aren't growing to good. I have the 40 calves in a pretty good sized trap and they all have access to two 3 ton apache feeders. Ive sat and watched them and they all have adequate time...
I have some what of a problem, maybe more of a question but any input from veterans is what I'm looking for. My calves seem to be almost stunted this year. East Tennessee has been in a drought this year, my area not as severe as other places such as north Georgia, and central Alabama but we...
Okie so I had a 95 pound registered bull calf born yesterday morning. I tagged and weighed while he was still wet. I like to tag and weigh as soon as I can. His mother is a good 6 year old cow. Had to leave for work afterwards and was gone till that night. Checking this morning I found calf was...
Yeah he first had a dose of Banamine but I didnt like the idea of using it to much in the beginning afraid it would mask the injury. Trying to stay away from bute right now as well. Vet wanted me to put him on it for five days, anyways its hard to single out the bull everyday and give him feed...
Yeah I really wish I would have seen what happened to mine. Could have been the same case with my bull, the cows were real hot and heavy and mounting everything. Either way, these posts are making me feel more confident about his condition. Ive thought it couldn't be anything to horrible for him...
Thank you for your input and I apologize for my phrase " a week or two" Im just a hick from Tennessee, and this is just a figure of speech we use...sorry!! For example; I tell friends and family after holidays "Ill see you in a few days" even tho it may be a month or more. Just the way I talk...
Okie so my 32 month old Brangus bull has been out with 10 cows breeding since May26. Some being replacement heifers and the majority being mature brangus and angus cows. 3 weeks ago I noticed my bull limping on his left hind leg much resembling a horse with an abcess. Not putting his full weight...
Did anyone go to the King Ranch Legacy sale back in 2003? Ive always been interested in the King Ranch. I just recently saw that they had a catalog and a cd of sale lots for that sale. I really wish I would have gotten one. Ive even contacted the ranch about any extras they may have kept but...
I have a post about Express Ranches, there were some good posts on there that may help you. They were just on American Rancher on RFDTV about 2 weeks ago. Very stout operation, with good Angus cattle. I know they will ship your bull to you for free.
