    Phenotype opinions wanted

Doesn't show him off much, but here was the early August grass he was on that year with the heifers. He is tame as a devil and would follow me anywhere through the pasture and his ladies would be right behind

We leave cattle on pasture until the first week of December. This is late December of his yearling year less than 30 says after being pulled off grass.

Actually he held up pretty well on mostly fescue pasture. Bred 14 heifers as a yearling and 18 as a two year old. He did have plenty of condition when I bought him, but he also had a negative RFI while posting a 4.43 ADG, a 102 REA ratio and a 117 IMF ratio. He has a unique combination of...

    Gelbvieh cows?

At that price, I could be convinced to start a fall calving herd. Have a ton of extra feed this year (a great feeling after two miserable years) and could use some extra cows. If you don't take them, let me know! Might be the same person I talked to about some bred heifers out in VA.

    Gelbvieh cows?

Gelbvieh females have typically very good dispositions. They are usually calm when calving though they are very good mothers, they are typically not overly protective mothers making them a little easier to work with at calving time than other breeds. The things I would watch is there is not...

For the Gelbvieh guys on this board that use Facebook

You may want to check out the Gelbvieh cattle buy/sell page I created. Not sure if the direct link will work but will try it: https://www.facebook.com/groups/354415011379589/ If it doesn't, do a search for Gelbvieh cattle buy/sell and it should come up. Trying to make a marketplace online for...

    Pictures from this week

Yeah, I saw that. The interesting thing to me will be where he got it from in his pedigree. Sire is 8 generations Gelbvieh and dam is 9 generations with no Angus bulls in plain sight. Both his sire and dam have a decent number of progeny.

I have a bull customer in Southern Iowa that uses red Gelbvieh bulls on Hereford cows. She loves the calves.
