    poly hay rings

I bought 4 last year and used over the winter, so far so good. You guys mean there is another way to move rings than with the front spear?

    Lawn mowers?

I bought a Cub Cadet last fall. So far we are happy with it. Zero turns are just too pricey to me and are not really recommended on slopes(part of our yard is pretty steep). We let the horse and mules into the yard 2 to 3 days a week. Sure cuts down on the mowing.

    A dumb question

I'm not an expert on wheat, but as far south as you are it out to be pretty well past the usable stage by June 1. I think the heads would all shatter as you tried to mow/bale it and the stems by then would probably not have much nutrional value. The cattle might eat quite a few of the heads...

I generally compare prices off of Fastline or Tractorhouse.

    Harrowing pastures

JNM303 an old gate, wire panel, tires will all work to some degree or another. Before I had a harrow I even dragged around a pretty good sized cedar tree smoothing up dirt. I didn't do quite as pretty a job as a harrow, but the price was right.

    Tractor question

On a utility style farm tractor, I'd really look it over if it was much over 3000 hrs. A small CUT anything much over 1500 hrs. If you looking at some of the older field tractors 6000 to 7000 hrs wouldn't be too bad. My Father bought a new little IH 454 that was trashed out at 2000 hrs, I...

    97 F350 vs. Dodge 3500

98 was the first year for the 24 valve cummins. I owned a 97 3/4 ton diesel for 10 years and traded it for a new F350. Biggest problems I had with the Dodge was the front end and 4 wd. 3 set of tie rods, 2 of those set in warranty. 4 wd was non functional when traded and the diesel engine...

    Harrowing pastures

I like to harrow my pastures about this time of year in Oklahoma, especially around feed grounds if I don't manage to get it all done. I use a chain style drag harrow currently. My neighbor really prefers a piece of railroad iron about 15' long. Studies have show dragging the piles out to aid...

    more questions -mowers

There are two basic bar types on disc mowers. A wet bar has oil in it and a segmented bar is in individual sections. There are advantages and disadvantages to each, but I will leave that at they both need to be maintained. The oil type needs checked daily and the segmented usually only...

looking for baler and disc mower

Here is a link to the Massey web site on balers, you can look at the disc mowers off of the same link. You can see from the specs that you have enough hp to meet the minimum requirments on the 1700 series models. I would suggest that you check out the minimum recommended tractor weight...

IF You had to buy a new Tractor....

Just had to make the decision on a new one. Trade an open MF 481 with shuttle MFWD for a MF 596 with a cab and MFWD. Kubota was a close second.(very, very, close second) The trade was just a little better on the MF. The local JD dealer was 20k out of the ballpark. Even my dedicated JD...
