HIGH DEMAND FOR REPLACEMENTS AT ABBA NATIONAL F1 SALE

The 28th Annual American Brahman Breeders Association (ABBA) National F1 & Texas Brahman Association (TBA) Sale showed a high demand for F1 replacement females as averages for the sale were among top prices of any female replacement sale this year.

The F1 cattle were judged on Friday by three well-known judges, Murphy Moriarty of Richards, Texas; Bill Crain of Pearsall, Texas; and Dale Bell of Gainesville, Texas. The judging was proceeded by a steak dinner sponsored by ABBA corporate sponsor, Graham Land & Cattle, Capital Farm Credit, Anderson Bean Boot Company/Rios of Mercedes, ABBA and TBA.

The 28th Annual ABBA National F-1 & TBA Sponsored Brahman Sale was dedicated to John Malazzo of Caldwell Texas for his continued support of this sale and the ABBA F-1 Certification Program

Top honors go to the following breeders with each Champion Pen receiving $1,000 premium and a pair of custom-made Anderson Bean boots while Honorable Mention received a $500 premium.

Honorable Mention Opens: Pen of 5 Golden Certified Angus x Brahman; sold for $3,100/hd.

Champion Opens: Pen of 5 Golden Certified Hereford x Brahman; sold for $3,300/hd.

Honorable Mention Opens: Pen of 5 Golden Certified Hereford x Brahman; sold for $3,450/hd

The high selling pairs came from H&M Cattle Company of Wharton, Texas. Two pens of Golden Certified Brahman x Polled Hereford 3-n-1's commanded a top price of $6,000/pair. These females had 600 lb. 44 Farms sired Angus calves at side.

The high selling exposed heifers were two pens of five consigned by John Malazzo Farms. These Certified Brahman x Hereford 14-16 month-old females exposed to Angus bulls, commanded $4,500/hd.

The high selling open heifers were consigned by Umphrey Land & Cattle. This pen of five Golden Certified Hereford x Brahman 12-13 month-old females sold for $3,500/hd.

Lanny & Sheila Sullins of Kilgore, Texas had the high selling registered Brahman bull selling for $7,100. Golden Meadows Ranch of Cotulla, Texas, had the high selling Brahman pairs which sold for $4,500/hd. The high selling open Brahman heifers were consigned by Kallion Farms of College Station, Texas, and sold for $7,250/hd.

Three hundred fifty head of cattle were placed with 55 different buyers from Texas and California. There were 181 registered buyers and 82 registered online.
