JLS INTERNATIONAL WINNING TRADITION SALE AVERAGES $5,634

JLS International hosted their annual Winning Tradition XII Sale May 3, 2014, at the ranch in Devine, Texas. The eventful sale attracted 225 Brangus breeders and cattlemen from all over Texas as well as other states including Mississippi, Louisiana, Missouri and Arkansas. Lakin Oakley of DeKalb, Texas, served as auctioneer for the day, selling 78 head of outstanding Brangus cattle.
Lot one was the high selling lot of the day to get the sale off to a great start. Miss JLS Blackhawk 915W52 had a January 27, 2014, bull calf at the side. This donor cow out of MS JLS Cadence 915S37 brought $19,000 from buyer Tommie Rogers, owner of the Branch Ranch in Mansfield, La.
Branch Ranch also bought both of the next two high selling lots. Miss JLS Dax 789B5 (Lot 16C) was sired by Mr JLS Dax 86Y8. This show heifer sold for $18,000. The bred heifer (Lot 19), Miss JLS Blackhawk 915Z43 out of MS JLS Darcey 915R37, brought $16,500.
The high selling bull of the day was Mr JLS Presidente 915Z58 (Lot 7). He was sired by Skyhawk Presidente and out of Miss JLS Pearl 915T17. The bull sold for $9,000 to Hodde Land and Cattle in Brenham, Texas.
The next high selling bull was Lot 6 Mr JLS Savage 675Z6 sired by MR JLS Savage 915W42. The bull commanded $8,250 and sold to David Fulcher of Maples, Texas.
Volume buyers included Tommie Rogers owner of the Branch Ranch in Mansfield, La.; Williams Ranch in Floresville, Texas; Rodney Butler of Berclair, Texas; and Brandon Belt in Gatesville, Texas.
The demand for quality, performance and outstanding show heifers was evident at JLS International in Devine. It was a great weekend for good cattle, good food, fun and for Brangus cattle.
