Beautiful fall weather greeted buyers and bidders from 10 states at the recent dispersal of the Coldwater Cattle Company cowherd in Holly Springs, Miss. The 1,200 head of Angus and Brangus cattle offered in the two day dispersal from Coldwater had built their real world reputation on service to the commercial cattle industry through their production of top end herd bulls in volume. Buyers were able to take home great values for their purchases throughout the two day event.

Topping the Brangus female offering at $5,000 was lot 878, a daughter of MR 4C 111N, a John Wayne son going back to the dam of Braveheart on the bottom side. She posted a +65 YW EPD and a +.41 REA EPD and sold safe to CCC J6 Newsmaker 191R3. Cain Cattle Company, Pickens, Miss. had the winning bid.

Her sire, MR 4C 111N, selling as lot 936, was the top selling Brangus Herd sire. The bid price of $5,000 won the number 6 ranked YW and 7th ranked WW EPD sire in the breed among proven herd bulls. Stephen Climer, Bells, Tenn. had the winning bid.

Another bred heifer, Miss JLS Cadence 915S36, lot 858 sold for $3,000 to Duane Hahn, Columbus Neb. She was sired by S.B. MR Cadence 89J and ranks in the breed's top 10 percent for Milk. She sold safe to 610. Also selling for $3,000 was lot 938, CCC J6 Newsmaker 191R3, who combines Newsmaker and Duke breeding for a top 10 percent of the breed Milk ranking. Champion Ranch, Centerville, Texas made the purchase on him.

Lot 804, MS HD Brightside 543L3 and her fall bull calf by 36N sold for $2,600. This big growth, powerful female sold to Duane Hahn, Columbus, Ne. She posts top 10 percent YW and REA EPDs and has recorded 5 @ 102 WR.

Volume buyers included Lola Westerfield, Batesville, Miss., JLS International, Robertsdale, Ala., Lisa Mills, Natchez, Miss., Williams Ranch, Fort Stockton, Ala., Miller Brangus, and Waynesboro, Tenn.
