The Alabama Brangus Breeders “Quality Assured” Brangus Bull Sale, held December 10th in Letohatchee, Ala. drew 157 registered buyers from eight states. The sale, a joint effort of the Alabama Brangus Breeders Association, Camp Cooley Ranch, Franklin, Texas and Camp Cooley Alabama, headquartered in Letohatchee, saw 152 Brangus bulls average $2,857.
Topping the sale was Lot 148, WAT Lead Gun 33P6, an October 04 son of Lead Gun of Brinks, who ranks in the top 5 percent of the breed for yearling weight, top 15 percent for weaning weight, and top 20 percent for birth weight and total maternal EPDs. He was purchased by Buck Thomason, Indian Hills Ranch, Cranfills Gap, Texas and Angelo Zottarelli, Zottarelli Ranch, Evant, Texas for $9,000. He was consigned by Camp Cooley Alabama.
Also generating $9,000 was Brinks Sundance 99P67. The bull was consigned by Chimney Rock Ranch, Concord, Arkansas, a Camp Cooley Genetic Accelerator partner. The bull, sired by Sundance of Brinks 392G9, excels in carcass merit data and was purchased by Dick Starr, DCJ Ranch, Auburn, Ala. Grable L. Ricks, Southern Forest Land Ranch, Andalusia, Ala. purchased the next high selling bull, Brinks Blackhawk 2160P for $7,000. The bull ranks in the top 10 percent for yearling weight and top 15% for weaning weight. He was consigned by Camp Cooley Ranch.
Jackie & Kelly Grissom, 8G Brangus, Breckenridge, Texas made the final bid of $6,750 for Brinks New Era 795P35. The bull, from Camp Cooley Ranch was sired by Brinks New Era and ranks in the top one percent for IMF, top 20 percent for SC and FT EPDs.
Volume buyer at the sale was Mike Vann, Rocking V Cattle Co., Pike Road, Ala. The sale was managed by Gordon Schubert and Maurer Sales Co.
