March 12, 2004
Murfreesboro, Tenn.

A beautiful day did not keep the farmers home and off the seats from buying great Gelbvieh genetics. Fourteen consigners from the southeastern states brought a tremendous set of cattle to sale. Many showed up to have a great time and a fun filled weekend in Tennessee. This offering was an extremely deep set of cattle that could go out and do the job for many different cattlemen.

Top selling lot of the weekend was BCFG Butlers Ms Scarlet 567N. She is a Freedom daughter that goes back to a Jaguar dam. This January female has tremendous numbers and was extremely deep bodied, easy fleshing, and attractive from the side. She ended up topping the sale at $2,450 and selling to Dustin Myers of Missouri. Butler Creek Gelbvieh consigned this lot to the sale.

Lot 10 was the next high selling lot, TSGF Ms Peach 234M1. She was consigned by T-Squared Farms and was a Freedom that went back to a JEGG Mr Gizmo daughter. She was a fall heifer that tremendous spread in her numbers and a tremendous look from the side. A few hours before the sale, she was selected as the Res. Champion Female in the show. David Slaughter of Kentucky purchased her for $2,500.

Lot 25 was the high selling bull lot of the day. HHF M62 is a Homo black double polled son of JBOB 2279J ET going back to an Extra daughter. Hickory Hill Farms of Virginia consigned HHF M62. This fall bull had lots to offer both commercial and purebred seedstock producers. He sold to Don McLean of Alaska for $2,300.

Lot 20, another outstanding purebred bull out of Freedom, ended up selling for $2,200. Cattle Land Inc consigned CLI Joint Venture 120M. This big stout bull had tremendous spread in numbers and was extremely big footed and appeared like he could go out and cover lots of cows. Jerry Bellar of Tennessee ended up buying this bull that was named Grand Champion a few weeks before at the Dixie National.

Lot 22, CLI Marshal 32M, an Extra fall bull that goes back to a Carolina Power daughter was the next high seller. Consigned by Cattle Land Inc., Marshal was a fall bull that was double black and double polled. Cedar Lane Gelbvieh of Alabama purchased him for $2,050. This bull will add lots of maternal to a herd as well as lots of eye appeal.

Lot 3, SNB Hallie, consigned by Duck River Gelbvieh of Tennessee, sold the high selling cow/calf pair. They topped in at $2,000 and selling to Walnut Hollow Farms of Tennessee. Hallie is a CTRG Limited Edition 411D1 that goes back to JBOB 885F. Hallie was the 2000 Jr. Show Grand Champion female. The calf at her side was a Black polled bull calf out of Extra Exposure. This was an outstanding pair that topped this set of cow/calf pairs.
