Twenty-four progressive breeders from the southeastern United States combined efforts once again to provide quality Gelbvieh genetics to the Southern Dream Sale held in Clemson, S.C. An intense screening process helped to ensure only the best cattle were offered in this elite South Carolina state sale. A good crowd gathered to examine and bid on this tremendous set of females and opportunities. Bidding started strong and demand remained solid throughout the whole sale.
The high selling individual of the day was Lot 9, HHF K47, consigned by Hickory Hill Farm of Blacksburg, Va. This tremendous 10/17/00 black, double polled purebred female is sired by SEAJ Long Haul 25H51 and out of a HHF W21 Polled Patriot cow. Along with being jackpot eligible she was a class winner at the 2001 N.A.I.L.E. held in Louisville, Ky. She sold to Sea J Farms and Hallbrook Stables of Springfield, Mo. for $7,600.
$5,000 caught Lot 15, HAYD Paulette 008K, consigned by Hay Diddle Diddle Farm of Honea Path, S.C. This 2/10/00 red, double polled purebred female is a combination of breeding GJH Patriot's Minute Man to a SNT Express T daughter. This super made individual caught the attention of many sale goers and ended up selling to Broad River Gelbvieh of Lavonia, Ga.
The next selling female of the day was Lot 13, LZS Miss Statesman Lady 013K consigned by Lazy S Gelbvieh of Ball Ground, Ga. This 1/5/00 red, double polled purebred female is sired by HHF Polled Summit 648U and out of a BMB Statesman P214 daughter making this outstanding female a double bred Statesman which is a rare opportunity. Along with a 70-pound birth weight she weaned off at 765-pounds. She sold to Davidson Farms of Duncan, S.C., for $4,200.
Lot 29, Pick of Lazy W Ranch ET calves was the next high seller bringing $4,200. This super opportunity consigned by Lazy W Ranch of Abbeville, S.C., gave the buyer the chance to select from seven heifer calves or eight bull calves produced by this reputable outfit at weaning. The calves were sired by SLC Freedom 178F ET, NGAC Remitall Pld Excel 232E, JRI Pld Free Agent 125J3 or EGL Bullseye C154 ET and out of Lazy W's donor cows Ginger 79D or Shania 771G. Pavaloc Farm of Texas was the final bidder on this great prospect.
Next was Lot 3, HAYD 002K, consigned by Hay Diddle Diddle Farm, makes the high sellers list as well. This 1/4/00 red, double polled purebred female is sired by JEB Polled Gizmo 17Z and out of an SNT Express T cow. This high quality individual provides calving ease with maternal strength and sold to Jo-Lyn Farms of Bowersville, Ga.
Chiming in at $3,300 was Lot 5, PAWS Miss Brandy 814H, consigned by Randall Farms of Seneca, S.C. This 4/15/98 black, double polled purebred is sired by FHG Flying H Extra 150D and out of a DPR Selection cow. She was AI-bred to RTC Atlas 712G for an October calf. She sold to Jo-Lyn Farms of Bowersville, Ga. as well.
Lot 52, HHF L35, consigned by Hickory Hill Farm of Blacksburg, Va., brought $3,200. This 9/20/01 black, double polled purebred is sired by SEAJ Long Haul 25H51 and out of a KCF Bennett Horizon cow. She is jackpot eligible and sold to Jason Russell of Wisconsin.
Finally, Lot 7, PAWS Miss Sporty 628 ET, consigned by Double B Farm of Great Falls, S.C., and Lot 8, KCF Miss Ideal K449, consigned by Knoll Crest Farms of Red House, Va., both sold for $3,000. “Miss Sporty” is a 4/16/98 black, double polled purebred cow sired by FHG Flying H Extra 150D and ended up selling to Jo-Lyn Farms. “Miss Ideal” is a 10/28/00 red, double polled purebred sired by KCF Bennett Ideal G182 and sold to Hickory Hill Farms of Blacksburg.
