No. I don't weigh the cost of fly control vs. costs associated with pinkeye, anaplasmosis or any other (potential) vector borne disease - or weight loss. Plus, I can't stand to see them miserable and covered in flies.

TC-- LongRange isn't labeled for fly control but it does work and it's excellent. It's really expensive. Pick your poison. I've use it for 3-4 years and had pink eye just awful last year. This year, I went minimal on everything. Cattle got the vaccines they needed but nothing else. No pinkeye vaccine, no Long Range, no Multi-Min. I went with the maximum of Vitamin A in their mineral and add Vitamin C myself. I've put out back rubbers. I have two sprayers in the Gator-one for weeds and one with insecticide. I spray the cattle whenever the opportunity presents. Pinkeye has been non-existent this year and flies aren't causing problems. This method will work for another couple of years(maybe) and then I'll be back hunting. I mix Pyranha Insecticide in my sprayer and on the back rubbers. I've been really pleased with what it's done.

I have two pastured herds. One has cattle on three sides of the pasture and a number of flies. The other has cattle on one side and less flies. Bulls get pinkeye and foot rot vaccine and pour on this summer -- but not the cows. No pinkeye so far in either... I swath graze quite a bit to keep thistle down and I think that is a factor.

I honestly can't remember the last time I had true pinkeye (infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis) - as opposed to an eye abrasion caused by stemmy bales, wicked dust, etc. Last time I treated for "pinkeye" was November '15, we had just put out a bale that was junk & had a lot of johnsongrass mixed in. But we do vaccinate each Spring and are diligent about spraying.

We tried back rubbers and bullets years ago, strung them between trees in the woods right next the mineral & protein tub. Never could figure out how our cows could possibly go through so much mineral until we finally realized it was the dang raccoons. Several times they actually removed the U-clip and the flap; lost probably 3 clips and would find the flap laying in the pasture (and my cows don't have opposable thumbs). So we eventually moved the mineral/protein tubs to the middle of the pasture. Solved the 'coon problem but the cows wouldn't go under the rub any more and we eventually took them down.

PB08 is I think 85. Both go a long way in making ultrasaber and you can leave out the pbo8 but it doesn't last as long.
1 gallon of corn oil is the only other thing you need.

Also other pyrethrums are cheap if you buy them where they are sold to apply to crops.
You can treat back rubs and/or spray them with a hand sprayer mixed with water orI have a 25 gallon atv sprayer on my feed truck. The get sprayed when they eat, they get a pour-on when they are worked and they walk under back rubs.
Use Diesle or corn oil on the rubs only spray with water.

I didn't read all the responses, just saw the one about ultra boss.
It and ultra saber are the same except the chemical. Don't use lambda on horses.

I stopped using fly spray when the igr minerals and tubs came out. Cows still get a few flies but nothing like before. Its a lot easier then penning once a month to spray . Especially since we have flies 10 months out of the year .

The one you post d is a little less active ingredient and cost a whole lot more. We pay 35 dollars for a whole gallon. Do you have many row crops or grain in your area? If you do the chemical supply stores will have what we by at the same price. Course if you don't your still cheaper buying that than what you have been doing.

He should be able to fix you up. Start looking at the AI on all the store bought fly sprays and figure out how to make your own.
