a delicate question about feral housecats, flowerbeds and ratshot.

Help Support CattleToday:

How about a BB or pellet gun? My preference here would be one of those lower end pump up air rifles - 2 or 3 pumps on one of those that you pump 10 times for max power should be a good level for discouraging them from hanging out in the flower beds...

A friend got a bunch of cats dumped by his place. Before the local wildlife could lower the numbers they turned his wife's flower bed and his kids sand box into a litter box. Cats don't like the smell of pepper, coffee grounds, orange peels or tobacco. You can also use those ultrasonic devices they worked for awhile for my friend. Motion water sprinklers is what he said worked best for the sand box. They used the water sprinklers and put pine cones and chicken wire in between the plants in the flower bed. Good luck.

My 2nd to last option:
.22 lr/20 ga buckshot. I really really truly don't want to do this.

Last resort:
A new wife that doesn't care about flower beds. (A bit extreme just over a bit of catshheet)
Yes, it is a delicate topic and it depends on how much value you place on flower beds.
Since you brought it up, if you can afford it, you might want to move that last option up a couple notches.
Some of dem there newer model year trophies do bring a lot to the table... not to mention chandeliers.
But Cialis is getting expensive and I know a fellow claimed trouble swallowing viagra and ended up with a stiff neck.
BWAHAHAHAHAA!! best post of the day

live trap em and drown em is really the only way..eventually theyll breed and youll just have more

I can ask if my daughter would allow you to borrow her Rottweiler for a couple days. Couple days is all it would take. Three tops. He loves playing with cats. Our feral cat population went from plentiful to full extinction in just a few days.

and the universe provides..

I saw one of the little furballs got ran over up on the blacktop this morning, flat as a pancake.
If this wind and sun hold, I'll be able to use it for a Frisbee in about a week...... I have the book somewhere. 101 Uses For a Dead Cat.

You won't understand it Ron, but I figure I got enough blood on my hands already that I'm gonna have to account for in front of my Maker one day and the older I get, the more that realization weighs.

I think there is a special exemption for feral cats, I read in a hunting magazine that feral cats kill more birds, baby rabbits etc. than any wild predator. Plus I just don't like cats

I have a memory that has bothered me occasionally for almost 40 years. A neighbor had a big black Tom cat that hunted the field in front of our house constantly. Always killing birds in my yard. One morning there was a pretty heavy snow and I'd had enough. Got my .22 out and took a long shot. Made a bad but crippling hit. That cat was bleeding all over the white snow and making circles in front of God and everybody.. I had to run him down and finish him off. I guess no one paid attention, cause I never mentioned it to anyone till this very second, not even my wife, and no one said anything

How about setting an array of mousetraps in the flower beds.. either you'll catch the mice or you'll scare the crap out of the cats

That said, I was just offered a cat today.. I know him, he's a good mouser, just doesn't get along with the other cat at his place.. considering the infestation of mice we have around here I might take him in.. Our resident ravens will be unhappy at the reduction in trapped mice they're fed though
