Accelerated Genetics Black angus or simi/angus Cow Maker?

Postby Stocker Steve » Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:52 pm

Used Genex last year but they no longer service may area. Got some nice thick 179T wf calves but gave up too much growth with low BW BA sires...

So using Accelerated Genetics bulls this year. Net Present Value looked good based on his numbers. Any tips on black angus or black simi/angus cow maker bulls from them?

Look at KCF Bennet Performer seen cows in production through 4 yr olds they are flat out good cows. Great udders. feet and legs. seen a few NPVs there ok i dont think they are near as good as Performer your probably not gonna hear that bull mentioned around much but ive seen the proof i have a yrling and a 4 month old out of him there pretty nice calves. Performer has a little more frame than NPV. And if your gonna breed some heifers look at Really Windy 4097 i think hes the real deal. Bred every heifer i have to him(sold them all) but ill use him again in the fall.

Thanks for the report. How are the dispositions? Performer is not a bull I would have considered based on his maternal numbers.

The ones i was around were as calm as could be there was several in the herd they sure didnt know me and i was able to walk all around them and they never even tried to move away from me. So from what i seen id say disposition was pretty good.

As far as keeper heifers go, MYTTY makes the best heifers, I have found, when crossing to PB SM cows. The jury is still out on GAR Profet and WHS Limelight.
SS Fast Track is a really good MYTTY/Objective Son for siring first class heifers.

As far as SimAngus sires goes -- you cant go wrong with this sire >> http://www.accelgen.com/htm/sire_pages/014SM03061.html
here is his updated numbers > https://herdbook.simmental.org/simmapp/action/animalSearch.AnimalSearchAction?eventSubmit_displayAnimal=T&animalNumber=2414537

Ill second 701t. His daughters are moderate, fleshy, and good uddered. With simmental and red angus on the same base now it shows how superior of a carcass sire he is as well.

Looks like 701t may be a little smaller frame and hes heterozygous which could make a difference on some Sim based cows.

How big of a cow do you want? I believe he is somewhere alittle shy of a six. Regardless of color his cattle are very good. Ive seen his mother in production as well daughters and they are good.

Hes a 5 at very best. His numbers are great havent seen any heifers out of him but i have seen several bulls out of him there nice thick bulls a little short for me. but thats why they make chocolate and vanilla ice cream everybody dont like the same thing, as far as color i was just stating that theres the chance the calf wont be blk. Im not against the bull at all just pointing out whats on the page.

Have you seen any heifers out of Real Windy 409 to compare?

An HT Bull wont throw a red calf unless the cow is carrying a red gene, so if you just want all black cattle it would be a good way to get rid of all your HT cows. It isnt an issue for us or any bull buyer I have talked to in the last 2+ years. Here is a red heifer out of 701T.

I was just stating the fact about 701t being HT because not everyone understands that.If they have been using Angus bulls not something you think about. If your using him on a bunch of commercial cows or anything that may have the red gene a red calf is possible and it does matter around here not saying it should it just does.
