No doubt about that. It certainly doesn't help that the dollar has been de-valued.

The way things are set up in the US it has taught people to not save or be prepared for the rainy day. People want safety nets. They want a safety net if they lose thier job... they want a safety net if they get sick... They want a safety net if thier crops don't turn out... They want a safety net if gasoline get too high... They want a saftey net in case the don't have enough cash they can still purchase things. No matter how many people talk the big game when you say we are going to remove the safety net the majority cry and can not handle it.

On a side note, I don't have dental and I get great deals walking in and paying cash. I walk in with cash in hand like Im at a gentleman's club.

I am with you if I don't have cold hard train riding cash then I don't buy the ticket.
I have preached this many times about saving. We live in an instant gratification society of want it now.
I thak the good Lord every day I was raised by depression era parent's. I have heard my Mom say this a thousand times it not what you make it is how you manage what you have.

My dad used to say similar as well as to live within your means or below.

Unfortunately there are fewer and fewer folks with that kind of thinking.
