Arkansas cattle auction

Postby denvermartinfarms » Sat Jun 09, 2012 8:11 pm

Been watching the sale at searcy for a couple years and can't tell if the cattle aren't real good or if they are just cheaper there i feed alot of calves and am wondering if i should go down there to buy some. so i guess i am asking if anyone has any expierence with this sale how well it's run and the quality of the cattle also i would like to know anything about the other sales in that area and back to the north.thanks for any information anyone may have.

main reason calves are a little cheaper at Searcy is smaller herds of cattle, less consistency in herds and the added miles for transport
If they had to actually work with a Spade and Hoe versus electing them we would all be better off (Caustic Burno 2011)

I just recently moved to Ark from Missouri we about 100 miles south east of Searcy
I am used to having a barn every 40 to 50 miles

culls, cows and calves that didn't fit on the loads were either sent to Ava or Gainesville
I sold most of my calves off the farm so I just sold left overs thru the barns

I find it interesting that someone i am talking to on here was that close to were i am. i have sold everything i have sold in the last 5 years at ava and know everyone there and have done really good i don't sell at gainsville but i buy there. i just feel like who ever you know the best is where you are going to get the best price and for me thats always been ava. if you don't mind me asking since you where fairly close i'm wondering where you was up here.
