Thats a bit of a daunting process Diana, a double knee replacement. I hate loosing body parts, it seems like their burying you bit by bit. I am sure you will do well with it though. A fellow up here I know, the same age as me had one done about 12 months ago and he is doing real well with it. I know when dogs had two broken legs they got going much better and quicker than if just one was broken. Anyhow all the best with it.
I am going to put some 781 in my tank this year. I have looked at him before and the BW is what put me off. I have a fair few low BW bulls in my tank such as Invincible and Astron to cover the heifers and I have a few low BW cows that would pull the BW down a bit that I can use him on. Boy you sure get to collect semen, I always buy a bit more than I need and it accumulates.
Thats going to be a few deck loads of cattle Jilleroo. I hope hubby is ok. Chest pain is always worrying, hard to know if it is significant or not, even the doctors are unsure until further work ups are done.
We had 4mm rain last night and drizzle on and off today, good stuff to get the clover into action, though somehow I don't think it is going to be anything like last year.

We've had about 30mm now at both places and its still raining. The Muttaburra Sheep Show's 50 year celebrations were to be held this weekend - they've gone to so much effort to have a huge gala event, ppl coming from everywhere. It's always big but this year was going to be a corker. And they don't even want any rain, the 'Burra has had way too much rain already this year.

We're hoping our regular buyer will take care of most of our sale stock. Just got to have him teed up to make sure he's got room and money allocated for them in a few weeks time! This rain should ensure enough green pick to keep them ticking over well until then. Although it will be slow to come as it'll be freezing after this. Now they're tipping an east coast low to maybe come in over SEQ in a couple of weeks time - see if it happens.

Yikes, Good luck Jilleroo's hubby. Just when you are set to go on your trip. Seems kind of funny to say it but I hope it is the ulcer. Ken, you are getting ready to leave too? Who will me and Suzie talk to? Both of you have great trips.

I guess they are giving all their goonness to the piglets Jilleroo.

Heaps of healing hhhhmmmmmsssss for your Mum, your sister-in-law and your hubby. I know it is hard not to worry for you, so cyberhugs for you (((((Jilleroo))))) I do hope you get to go on your Holiday and enjoy it.

Hubby won't go on Holiday. He just wants to be on the Farm and when he takes time off it is to do something like paint a tractor or do hay.

I have asked for a day off next week and we will spend the day at Toowoomba for Farmfest. Then both of us are working Saturday morning, so I will get some overtime this week as well.

I am not much use on a Saturday morning, but I can answer the phones and catch up on anything I am behind from having the Wednesday off. I do Service and Admin but I am not trained in parts which most people come in for on a Saturday morning. I am just the only one available to work that day that is all.

Yay we ended up with 67mm of rain - it just roared down about 4am, so nice to hear. We had 54mm on our northern place and the new block shouldve had 65mm according to a close-up neighbour. What more can we ask for?
Thanks for the good wishes Mel and Suzie. Everything is looking up, mum is doing okay, hubby is looking good. We've been invited to Newcastle Waters by the station manager and his wife so it will be an eye-opener for us, coming from our "hobby farm".
So cold and wet, I just had to put food out for a feral cat and kittens who are living around the house. Just a bowl of warm milk when I feed the calf and a few cat bikkies....poor kitties, they've got nice faces for wild cats.
The bucket calf has blown up a knee - very disappointing, but it had to happen. Very painful for him. I hope the caretaker will be right with him - says he knows all about calves etc etc but when it comes down to it, they generally know nothing useful.
Spent the day getting all the bookwork up to date. Have almost got it wheeled.
When are you off on your jaunt Ken?

Well Suzie, when they come in for an oil filter, just sell them the whole service.
I won't be away long Mel, you and Suzie will hold the fort ok until I get back.
Not much happening here, very windy and drizzly. I did my shopping and started on some house work ready for inspection on Sunday when Pam gets here.
I have a doctors appointment at Toowoomba on Monday and we are heading off Tuesday, sounds like the wet weather will be over then. Have a good trip Jilleroo.

Yeh Suzie, the doctors appointment has cut down our time at Yamba as it is. Anyhow the doctor is booked out several months in advance so difficult to change. I'll just have to go down to Primex at Casino again in a couple of weeks.
I spent the day in the house trying to clean out and throw out stuff. My organisational skills are not real good. I tend to hang onto things and then place them around me if I think they are important so I know where they are. I am very reluctant to file anything away as I will forget I ever had it, let alone be able to retrieve it. I didn't cull as much as I needed to but didn't do too bad. My desk is sort of respectable now.
I have tomorrow morning now to do the housework proper before my visitor.

Hope you and your husband have a great holiday Jilleroo. Glad you received good falls of rain. We had 11mm today and more is forecast for tomorrow-however with the BOM the rain is often gone before they predict-just as well they don't get paid on accuracy or they would starve. Ken, you have a good holiday too and good luck with the doc.
Re my knees-I am a total wimp and would probably not go back for the second one to be done so better to get them over with-the specialist wants to do both as he said they are bone on bone- if I was a cow I would be culled on structure...ha ha...
Sold another commercial bull this week and a show heifer (the buyer wants to exhibit her at Brisbane -she is a sweet thing and should have a nice home).
I know what you about acquiring excess semen Ken. It seems like a good idea at the time but then I find another bull to use and have leftover straws. I've gone back to older high accuracy bulls rather than trialling the 'newbies' as the success rate with the latter is often disappointing.
Enjoy Farmfest Suzie.

I plan to thanks Diana. I will take my wellies a huge umbrella and my brown jacket if it is wet. I will be dry and love the lessor crowds if they don't like it. My boss will be there on the Kubota stand. The parts guy is staying at work this time.

We went to Dalson Park this morning and delivered grassy hay as it was too wet to take the tractor and trailer out of the shed to get to the lucerne hay.

I rode Ken who had 4 weeks off. What a lovely boy he is. His trot work is at the same par as it was. A lesson shoulder-in. His canter has gone a little backwards and is a bit fast again, but it will get better as he gets stronger and fitter again.

Then we went and visited Mum again at the over 50's Resort. Front door wide open, she feels totally safe as they are in a gated community. A friend put something up outside so as she could get on the net so she was playing on the computer when we were there.

She said at the moment she still feels like she is on Holiday and will go home soon.

Hello there, Krankie, glad to have another aussie on here to chip in. This will be my last post for a while, we leave on the first leg of our trip tomorrow. Only going to Winton overnight, will meet up with the family there to see the little fella. Then we're headed to Darwin, leaving our car at Elders, and flying to Broome. (Did I tell you all this before, sorry if I did, too lazy to go back and look!) Mum is not coming out of hospital in the near future but, if she should, the family down there to ready for her. Will go down as soon as I get back.

I think I've bought a new pony mare - we don't need any more ponies - but she's so lovely I couldnt resist. Oh dear. She wasnt for sale but the ppl seemed receptive to me buying her, havent worked out a price yet. I'll break her into harness if I can, as well as the kids riding her, she's only 2. I don't need any "projects" to work on, for goodness sake, I have plenty of painting commissions harrassing me, what am I thinking! Havent floated the past hubby yet but I know it wont be met with enthusiasm, just a lot of eyerolling and "what do you want that for?"

Still quite wet here, another fog this morning. The rain has done a lot of damage to the mitchell and flinders grass, but should bring enough herbage to compensate. Time will tell. At least our main body of grass still had green through it - folk, who had grass that was hayed off, now have thousands of acres of black to look out on. Any green pick will be slow coming.
Mitchell grass doesnt respond under about 30 degrees and it wont be that again for months. Our waterholes are full again so that's a great thing in June.

Best wishes to everyone, keep safe, and I'll be back in a few weeks!

G'day Kranky, what part of the country are you from?
It's been showery and cold here all day. The rain didn't really clear out with SWers. If it was a bit colder we would be in with a chance of snow. They are forecasting sleet for tomorrow.
We will be heading off first thing in the morning.
Have a great time Jilleroo, I'm looking forward to the photos of Newcastle Waters.
