Quittin Club, how's everyone doing?

Postby hooknline » Thu Apr 12, 2012 6:05 pm

Time for a status update. How's everyone doing with the quitting or cutting back? Cp, crazy farmgirl, et al?

Just been awhile and time to check in

I wasn't an official member of the club, but I got inspired by this thread. Haven't smoked one in seven weeks. I think I am done this time. No rasping with every breath when I lay down, my senses of smell and taste are back (not always a good thing) and I have saved over $200 so far by not buying my cigs. I hope everybody else is doing well, too.

Good deal double e! Keep it up. It gets easier every day.
I'm pushing 6 months now I guess. I'd have to go back to the original
Thread and look but it was before Christmas.

Six months is awesome! Do you still reach for your shirt pocket at the times you would have lit up?

Yep. Most every morning as I get ready to go out the door.
But I ot think I want a smoke maybe twice a week.
And that goes away in seconds.

I couldn't quit on my own- I bought a good e-cigarette over six months ago and only tried a real cigarette once since then -- YUCK
Don't know if I will ever quit the e-cig but its better and cheaper than cigs- so I am still happy.

I was doing really well up until my whole mangled arm thing. I had quit chewing and was down to two or three beers a day but after two re-injuries I'm just breeding cows and sitting on my a$$ with ice on my arm watching everything else go downhill... I'm still not chewing much but my beer intake is back up into the six-pack range. I have been really good about cutting it off at six. I don't do well with spare time.

Howdy and cp...keep it up. Can't get anywhere if you don't set goals
Cp sounds like you are doing much better than you were before so that's a good
Thing.

Well y'all are doing great. I've been wondering how everyones been doing in the quitting club. I guess I'am going to quit something, blood pressure was 158 over 102 today. Keep up the good work.
If we would of known this, we would of picked our own cotton. Liberals have no values.

thats not appropriate for showing people that already smoke. thats for those who haven't started yet.
One of my biggest issues with that is that it always gives me the feeling that I am already doomed(because I have smoked for so long) so why should I go thru the torture of quitting too.

So to me that just disheartened me.

That should be incentive! I smoked for 32 years and quit cold turkey, so I know how hard it is. Just because I've been quit for 10 years doesn't meant I'm out of the wood yet, but it does mean that everything is now stacked in my favor. I would hope that you would turn that disparity in optimism for your own good. Videos like those should be encouragement, not a license to give up.

I'm still struggling with it; can't get past that "couple a day", and that is usually driving to/from work. Hard to put any substitution activity into that time slot. :(

How about any time you get the urge to smoke, instead you play the harmonica? It might just work.
