Tough break, it'll be better in time.

thanks and you're right. breeding my route is a a fifteen mile a day hike so even when i'm down i'm not right if i don't get to move some since that's what my body is used to. i get depressed within about two days if i can't move around.

Don't know if you're a book person, CP, but if you are and haven't yet read KILLING LINCOLN, it's still on my highly recommended list.

I can tell you about my thrilling day:
I rode the CARTS bus to the grocery store (mile or so from the house, took an hour) shopped, rode home.. unloaded groceries, took a nap, visited Library..
And it's raining right down,so I've been on the porch watching and smiling and saying Thank You..
Get well soon, took about 6 months after I got hit by the SUV for me to begine to use my arm...at least it was my left arm.

Peg---sounds like quite the exciting day! If it took and hour to get to the grocery store, sounds like you got a tour of town, not bad.

We've had some rain too and I am very thankful for it.

Cp, sorry about your injury.
Take the extra time to walk the land, enjoy the spring weather, and smell the roses so to speak.

Bastrop Texas has many old, beautiful homes-go to Google Map street view,I think you'd enjoy it..Mostly I enjoyed looking at them and at the gardens .. The Chinaberry trees are blooming, they are so pretty and smell so good this time of the year -- and a real nusence the rest of the time!
That's a lot of what I did while I was laid up..Visited other countrys I've always wanted to go to but never will. Wales is lovely..
I gotta go to bed, took a pain pill for my feets (nuropithy) and it makes me funny.. gotta stay away from Amazon. Last time salt and pepper shakers in the form of Paint Shetland Ponies showed up in the mailbox..cute and shake salt ok,but~ :???: what was I thinking??

Nope. New Zealand is the best Southern state because.... er... because...
it's got dairy cows. Lots of 'em.
being a good operator simply increases the chances that the owner of your lease block will call it a good farm and sell it for way more than it's worth.

You could always go on ThisIsWhyImBroke.com there are quite a few amusing things on there to look at.
You may think the grass is greener of the other side, but if you take the time to water your own grass it will be just as green.

I broke my back in '93. While recovering the doc told me that it would be good to walk a lot. I happened to be fall. So me and my old lab would go duck hunting down to the creek. We would walk up the creek and back down by way of the river jumping any ducks we could find. I had about a 5 mile route. Somedays we would go 3 times. I don't remember getting very many ducks but the walks sure helped.

well, this makes 48 hours. my wife told me last night it would be fun to get me all caught up on what everyone else was doing :hide: ... i imediatly called my relief breeder and told him that since he's still sick i'd go chalk left handed for him again and drive as his truck is an automatic. then i called my dad,who is also my neighbor, and asked him if he'd hook up the flail mower for me in the morning. after work i laid down a bunch of cover crop under the walnuts. i stuck a peice of pipe over the three point lift lever so i could raise the mower with my left hand just by reaching across my chest. i think tommorrow i can spray the burms if i can get my wife to measure out the chemicals as i can't tilt a jug. i figured out that i can drive the tractor with my left hand and since my right is in a sling it's perfect for holding the wand at a perfect level... we'll see. it takes inovation to be productive when you're crippled up. :D

Yes indeed it does! It's amazing how creative you become when you 'have' to work around/with an injury. ;-) Sometimes the job takes a little longer, or depending on what it is, may not get done as perfectly, but it gets done. And its amazing how much more you 'observe' and see within your environment.

Actually, sometimes it can be a blessing in disguise. As was mentioned by others, you stop and smell the roses, walk the river and find the ducks, all kind of good can come from it.....I know.....I've been there.
